Not sure what your problem is with that? Aren’t JP Morgan propping us up financially with our £750million debt?

Or is that the club I supported before I supported Chelsea? Difficult to keep track not being a legacy fan

From memory I think its Bank of America that's propping up the Rags.

Not a winner but Yaya's equaliser is still the best goal in a Wembley Cup final, since the stadium was rebuilt - and possibly ever.
Seconds after he scored it, Sky were at pains to insist that "he didn't really mean it".
The player himself said he did - but what would he know about it, compared to Neville and Redknapp?

Seconds after he scored.... Nasri banged in the second best goal since Wembley was rebuilt!

I saw focus for the first time and it was a wankfest over FC Traitors who quit 15 years ago to pretend at it so they didn't get stick off their mates who had backbone.
Talked to a pair of FC fans when they played Fleetwood a few years back. They said " I think we're well respected by all football fans ", I said " most fans I know call you plastic M****hs " .They looked like they wanted to cry.

Everyone can have an opinion, and it doesn't have to be informed to be a bellwether, But to be a bellwether it has to be widely shared among the constituency it is supposedly giving voice to, and Lloyd is not doing that.

No one could read what Lloyd wrote and hand on heart say that was the "authentic" voice of City fans. Why is it that crowds are not gathering in numbers outside the Etihad? Or Stamford Bridge? Why last in first out? What about the "Hateful Eight" backdrop, the CAS judgement? What about the massive investment in East Manchester?

These events are nuanced, even this Super League fiasco. But those with their own agenda, like Lloyd, only deal in nuance when it suits them, so he towed the greed line and hit it with a hammer for a nod and a wink.

In the end Lloyd's opinion is worthless, not because I don't recognise its authenticity, or lack of nuance or because it differs from my own, it's worthless because of his association with the Guardian. Cruel I know, but I don't take advice on sobriety from alcoholics, similarly I don't look to anyone from the Guardian for a fair and balanced view on City.

And I have to say, by that bellwether, Lloyd did not disappoint.
Separate the opinion from the person and the media outlet. I don't know him and rarely read the guardian.
I agree with the opinion.

They'll simply interview multiple fans until they get the narrative they want regardless. Then they'll push it as 'the fans have spoken'.
Yep the Guardian is only interested in the views of City fans if they are Uncle Toms prepared to agree with the sports desk’s narrative

It suggests that what he wrote reflects an opinion that many City fans share.

The fact that 95% of people in here did not want to join the ESL is a fact. What Scragg wrote and what you believe is a supposition and neither Scragg, or you, have produced any cogent argument to substantiate that what he wrote reflects an opinion "many" fans share.

Correct to say you’d stop supporting the club is miles away from saying you didn’t want to join the ESL, this club is a part of me i could never stop supporting it.

On the flipside, do you have evidence to the contrary? What I see across this forum was almost universal negative feeling about the league, and within that lots of people who were seriously questioning their long term commitment to the club if the league went ahead. I'm not saying it was anything remotely approaching a majority, in fact I'd confidently say that it wasn't, but it's clear a lot of people felt like that. Clear enough certainly that I'd assume scragg was speaking for himself rather than representing some kind of agenda as you suggested. I apologise, once again, for having a different opinion to you.

Just so, you and I post in here as individuals and as such our opinions are our own.

But when you post in a national newspaper under the banner....

Fans from all 20 Premier League clubs assess an astonishing week. How did it come to this? And what should happen next?

You are still posting as an individual, but you have a responsibility to either acknowledge that your opinions are your own and do not necessarily reflect the wider fan view, or highlight that your view might be an outlier, or attempt to gauge the wider fan view, or acknowledge that the wider fan view is impossible to gauge, or try to get over that this issue is not a one size fits all.

Scragg did none of that.

See my post above.

Evidence to the contrary? We're in proving a negative are we now! My giiddy aunt!

Okay, prove to me Biden doesn't have dementia?

Oh, by the way, apologising for your differing opinion? It's not a good look.

The definition of 'prove a negative' is a bit more complex than 'supply evidence to the contrary,' but if you'd prefer to prove a positive you can supply evidence that scragg is out on his own and that his views are his alone and not reflective of any sizeable current of opinion among city fans. but I'm happy to do without such evidence. I apologised for having a different opinion to you because you obviously struggle with encountering people who disagree with you

If eight out of ten cats all prefer Whiskas
Do the other two prefer Lesley Judd?

Apparently an historic rivalry is being continued today at Elland Road, or at least the media and Leeds fans seem to be reminding everyone there is every other five minutes. Between 67/68 and 91/92 they won three league titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup, so their whole history of domestic honours at the top level is condensed into a period of just over twenty years but apparently we haven't any history. I wonder where we went wrong.
