You haven’t been following his accounts closely if you don’t think he speaks more about us than any other club, and it’s not close

Probably because we're the best club in the country right now, and he admires that.

As I said though, it doesn't necessarily mean that we're going to sign him. Clearly we have bigger transfer priorities right now.

Perhaps there's going to be an unexpected departure? And before you ask, no, I have no idea who as I'm not ITK.
I f there is then I'm all fine with signing Grealish, I'm just very sceptical there will be any departure. Then again it wouldn't be an unexpected departure if I wasn't :)

Let’s be clear, if they sign those two, they are title contenders next year. It’s as simple as that, even with Ole

Completely agree.

Despite a lot of people calling them shite, they’re second in the league, almost in the final of the Europa League and got to the latter stages of both domestic cups.

They are a very good side and adding the best goal scorer in the PL and Grealish would make them title favourites IMO.

Not just that, but I also expect Tuchel’s second season at Chelsea to be a strong challenger for the PL title if they manage to finish in the top 4 this season (very likely). I think it would take more than one worldclass striker (which is absolutely needed, make no mistake) to keep our current mentality going. The LB we are currently linked to isn’t even supposed to arrive next season...

Surely this is called planning for the future? A top class player who could improve under pep even further not yet at his prime? Gundogan already 30 , de bruyne soon to be 30, Mahrez 30?
Is he top class though? Ive watched him numerous times and not been impressed at all. .....a level below foden at least. As poor as Sterling has been this season, previous seasons sterling has been way above his level as well. Ive been a huge critic of Mahrez but this season he has stepped up and again he is way above Grelish (and its not all about stats its about what you see on the pitch) -

I can see what Grelish does bring...good ball retention, a decent set piece (thuogh we have that already), energy. He is good in tight spaces as well (something Pep values a lot)....but I woulndt say he is as good as what we currently have.

Where does he play?

Left side of midfield/attack - thats foden and sterlings position (i can see him being moved more central however).

Could he play the number 6 role -we have rodri there.....number 8 roles - kev Beranrdo and foden as well as Gundogan for at least another 12-24 months

Right side - Mahrez, Torres and sterling

If we are talking about replacing someone directly (and people seem to think its Sterling - I wouldnt know on this) but if it is sterling, then we lose pace, directness, ability to beat a man and 20 goals a season (baring this season).

Lastly, though not that this matters on the pitch (mostof the time) - he comes across as a billy big bollocks

If they're going to be genuine contenders then let them. Bring on the competition. It shouldn't worry us. Let's just focus on ourselves and what we need.

If we're planning to sign players that we don't need for exorbitant money, in a vain attempt to try and stop them from ascending, then we're taking up a losing position.

Exactly we'll strengthen where we think need to, what others do isn't our problem, we won't buy players out of fear of others. Next season we'll deal with whoever the contenders are.

but who isn’t at this time a level below foden mate? He’s arguably the best 20 year old in the world!!

What we and United need are quite similar. We both need a top class striker and another creative player.

I see Grealish and Kane as players who perfectly fit the bill for us.

I have warmed to the idea over the last couple of months, if we can get him for a good price then he would only strenghten the squad further.

true and grealish would absorb everything pep could teach him as well? He seems to have a clever football brain and would certainly take everything on board imo.

And he plays multiple position.

He can play central midfield and a wide forward position. He’d also make an excellent false 9 given his ability to retain the ball under pressure.

That seems to be the main reason why he would want to come. Any player that comes will improve, especially below a certain age

But do we need a striker at all?

We’ve hardly used strikers all season, even when Jesus plays it’s not in a traditional striker role, but we’re having maybe our best season ever with a tighter defence and goals coming from all directions as ‘midfielders’ interchange across the front making it impossible to mark out the striker that doesn’t exist

Our game play has evolved to become more fluid, we press better, we’re harder to pin down and we’re more effective for it. Perhaps this demonstrates how much we don’t need a striker?

It could be that the traditional striker role disappears from the game in future years, in the same way that traditional keepers who hug the line and can’t pass are now rightly seen as dinosaurs.

This idiot who has put me on Ignore weeks ago for not being able to handle mere disagreements hasn’t been able to see my responses to this idiotic point that he makes word for word over and over again. It is based on false assumptions and the point he makes is actually easily disproved by THIS season
