Lots of you are right to say he’s one of our better players this season, after a difficult start in city colours. He’s adapted to the league now, and he’s been a crucial part of our winning system this season. Today yes, he was left alone in the middle and wasn’t easy for him.

But... he has a fair few mistakes in him. Who doesn’t to be fair? The problem I find, and I hope this is just bad luck and nothing more, is that Rodri’s mistakes always seem to lead to a goal or at least a close chance for the other team. For comparison, a Gundogan mistake or a Fern mistake doesn’t tend to be as costly. I haven’t looked at the stats, so someone better informed might tell me I’m talking crap, but that (and Fern’s performance vs PSG) is why I wouldn’t risk it on 29 May

What’s that got to do with the individual moment he decided to throw a tantrum rather than carry on?
What does that have to do with the goal?

He'd have done fuck all to stop it even if he never broke stride

The problem was a line of four 'attackers' running away from wanting the ball off him all game.

Very good game but a mistake for the goal. It happens. We should have been 2-0 up at the half time and probably should have had a penalty and then his mistake would be almost nothing.

I think Rodri is a player that looks good in a good team that is doing well and when the team under performs you would never say “but he played well/stood out/can hold his head high”

The same couldn’t be said of Fernandinho who even though plays in the same position is a totally different player and that is why I agree with him that Rodri is a weak point that I feel could be upgraded on, regardless of how many trophies we win with him in the side.

This is fair.

The hope is he is still so extremely young, that he can cut out these mistakes overtime, because the rest of his game is the best in the world.

Was blowing out of his arse half way through the 1st half, felt for him coz was asked to do too much in my opinion

Been one of the good players this season. However, against certain opponents, he shouldn’t be left to play alone. If he is, then there should be players around him that drop deep or tactical instructions that he should pass back immediately if he has no man to pass to around him.

He dwells on the ball a little too much. Quite a bit of times, it works. He’ll use his body and come out with the ball especially if it’s against a slightly smaller player. Nonetheless, he doesn’t play to the whistle a lot. He lost the ball, ok. However, he didn’t need to stop, look at the ref and let the Chelsea players counter. Should’ve taken the fuckers out to prevent them going forward. That’s more Fern’s game but it is what it is.

Still a good player.

I guarantee that if he starts the final, he is the player that Chelsea will target. He has had a good season overall but his speed of thought at times against the very best sides catches him out.

Exactly this. When we play top opposition with quick forwards who press him, he panics as he tries to marshall both man and ball, and ends up falling over or playing risky passes whilst stretching. Happens against United when they go with James, Rashford, Martial & Greenwood, every time. I pray he’s not starting in the CL final

watch it again. He literally stops our play with his moaning and the second he takes to have a moan at the ref would have allowed him to assess it and help more than he did.
