Grealish wouldn't of been any worse than the players that were out playing against Chelsea but he wouldn't of been any better either. £70m is not the worse fee in the world to be fair.

I am being honest I am struggling in seeing how he is any better than we currently got and if he could of been the difference in turning the defeat into a victory. It doesn't matter what formation or system.

I make that assertion based on two things.

We had zero creativity in the middle of the pitch.

He's a fantastic, hungry player.

Let's not kid ourselves, there is plenty of room for improvement at City and, thankfully, Pep and Txiki refuse to stand still this summer.

It's my firm belief he only signed a new contract because Khaldoon promised to back him again.

I make that assertion based on two things.

We had zero creativity in the middle of the pitch.

He's a fantastic, hungry player.

Let's not kid ourselves, there is plenty of room for improvement at City and, thankfully, Pep and Txiki refuse to stand still this summer.

It's my firm belief he only signed a new contract because Khaldoon promised to back him again.

The personnel wasn't the issue yesterday

The personnel lost us the match, they weren't good enough to meet Pep's game plan.

If anyone thinks Pep sent out a team with a one man midfield they are kidding themselves.

Sterling has since confirmed that we actually went with a five to try and match Chelsea up.

The bodies were 'supposed' to be there in the middle of the pitch, yet nobody was able to afford us the intelligence or technique to come and collect or put their foot on the ball in transitions.

There was not one player capable of forward momentum in terms of passing, which is why our most dangerous ball came from Laporte or Dias playing balls down the sides.

Of course, that's also on Pep, but we simply didn't have another player on the pitch who was able to commit a man and still provide end product.
