But that would reduce his negotiating position 12 months down the line, not a scoobies chance that's happening.

The only way that would make some sort of sense was if he was staying at Dortmund for a good few years yet and surely no one would argue that is a possibility?
He isn't going to move this season, and under a new coach they could easily bridge the gap between them and Bayern and satisfy his ambitions for a while

I was being more optmistic with us signing Haaland next summer even with Kane
If we have Kane, we wint even attempt to sign haaland for the duration that kane is with us...which for me is disappointing as I think haaland offers more

Haaland certainly offers more, but comes with far more baggage in regards to his agent, and their so-called wage demands. To me, it just appears that we may be cooling to the prospect of him, now that Kane has made his preferences clear.

Of course kane wants to come here...why wouldn't he. However so does haaland reportedly and just because of who is agent is shouldn't put is off signing him....

I think to say Haaland at present, scoring in the German league (Werner/Jovic) offers more than Kane top/ish scorer for years in the prem....is very fifa21 ;)
....and I'm not bothered who we get really, I'm in the forum minority that thinks Pep has a better idea than me!
Remember how Koulibaly was the be all and end all last summer and the amount of people slagging Dias as being 4th choice.....at best ;)

I think this is a bit different, I think with Haaland we are getting a generational talent who has an obvious affinity and affection for this club, As for the Jovic and Werner comparisons, Haaland is twice the striker Werner ever was at that age and has proven much much more. I think Jovic made a bad career decision going to Madrid, and he is still young enough where he could come good eventually in the right scenario. We have had great success importing from Germany in the past. Sane, Gundogan, etc.

That kind of arrogance is not even worth addressing, my friend. They will take down any player that doesn’t play in the PL. How is that any different from when they used to say about Pep “oh, it’s one thing to make that style of football in Spain and Germany, it will never work in the Prem...”

Generational talent? If anyone was that we would pay what Dortmund/any club wanted plus agent plus father without blinking because we'd get the returns.....but we won't because he isn't (yet possibly).
What has he proven (much much more...your words) than Werner? More goals in UCL, Werner scored more over season in league. Jovic was must buy on here when scoring in Germany....apparently we'd regret missing out lol.

1. Haaland has a far superior goal record to Werner at his age
2. Haaland is most definitely a generational talent for the physical attributes alone before we even get into the fact that he is averaging almost a goal a game, and the variety and types of goals he is scoring.
3. Jovic could've had a very different career path had he not made the bad career decision of going to Madrid and essentially getting screwed over by Zidane.

I tend to agree that every summer there's a new "generational" talent that if we don't sign him we'll regret it. Frenkie De Jong and De Ligt spring to mind. Currently 3rd and 5th in their respective leagues at clubs with the most financial power. Maybe City's more cool headed strategy works.

That said, I'm on the Haaland hype train personally. He's terrifying. We think when City played Dortmund they shackled him ... but he got two assists. In an inferor team. And he's still only 20. No other striker in world football puts Ruben on his arse the way Haaland did. This guy will be the closest thing to a Ronaldo/Messi level impact, we have to get him.

Lkzerinho / Dobsy fair enough all about opinions.......if he's as good as you think or rather Pep/City agree with you, we will pay what it takes to get him, selling and having a couple less playsrs in squad if needs be.....but i dont think Pep/City agree and he'll go elsewhere...just mho.
