Unfortunately the hospital data is not looking too cheerful either.

England back to where it was two days ago - down by the 8 it went up yesterday.

But the NW rose both in patients and ventilators today and is now up on both week to week where it was falling.

3 more patients and 6 more on ventilators than 7 days ago.

Small numbers so far but not what we want to be seeing. The ventilator rise especially concerning.

The admissions in the NW today were also up on last week from 15 to 19.

Texas cases, hospitalisations and deaths continue to drop, the “just wait 2weeks” crowds are now staring at week 11 of Nightclubs, bars, restaurants and totally full stadiums, all being open and no vaccine passports.
Texas has 29 million people.
They don’t let every man and dog through their border controls, unlike us.

I get your point but it all becomes rather mundane and predictable every day.
I appreciate SAGE are doing their job but personally I think some of their "experts" are enjoying their moment in the sun too much and don't want to relinquish the spotlight they are having and will do anything to scare and cause anxiety.
That idiot Ferguson too gets an interview every week, the idiot who broke lockdown rules last year, another one who makes wild predictions and forecasts throughout his career and has consistently been proved wrong. Yet they keep asking him for interviews, why?

Just my take but what lots of people are forgetting is the mental health issues it's creating with all this, now nearly 14 months in. The press, SAGE and the goverment need to just fucking get on with it and stop pussy footing around and been ruled by SAGE.
I completely agree SAGE are enjoying their moment in the sun!
What does he even mean by a third wave?
The Indian variant some people would have you believe Is rife , as far as I know has killed nobody that has been vaccinated,
7 deaths was it yesterday in a country of nearly 70 million,,
Still they want us running scared FFS

On BBC News just announced track and trace messed up and did not notify local areas about the cases that seem to have triggered the Indian variant wave for three weeks. Preventing measures being taken early, Amongst those areas not notified were Blackburn and Blackpool in the NW.

A 'glitch' in the system was blamed.

Surely the whole system is the glitch if it fails to pass on key data about what it was created to prevent?

So the public sector have done their job effectively and elements of the private sector have messed up again during the pandemic. No surprise to me.

Concerns about Bolton cases and the Indian variant aside, that’s the 6th day in a row that the UK has reported deaths in single figures.

Not sure why people are obsessing over a very small number of cases which is barely rising week to week. If they don’t open up on June 21st and the deaths are still this low there needs to be mass protests. It can’t be allowed to go on.

Keeping a close eye on Bolton hospital deaths..if its low this time next month, then surely June 21st gets the green light?

Bolton is up 100 cases week on week. That's pretty big is it not? Granted the surge testing is going on, and obviously we're all hoping these are mainly asymptomatic finds but their hospital figures are on a knife edge so it's understandable people are watching this closely imo.

Life has to go on at some point. We need to know who amongst the recent hospitalisations and deaths were vaccinated and who weren't. If the vaccinated are at minimal risk then we open up. The unvaccinated have a choice. They can isolate or take a chance, or have the vaccination.

Exactly this is what we've been told, unfortunately they'll be some deaths still from covid.. like the flu, but if it remains low we've got to open up

we have to learn to live with it now and get on with our lives.

I am double jabbed which I understood reduces the chances of me getting it and if I do it will only be mild.

either the vaccines work or they don’t. Happy to get a booster every year to top up or deal with variants.

but am done with it now , can’t keep watching Netflix all day.

i am sick of people saying if this or if that it could do this or a new variants this or 3rd wave then if prepare for 4th wave this.

let’s worry about it when it gets here, right now deaths and hospital admissions are low and people should be enjoying themselves .

if people have been offered jabs and refuse it then thats unfortunate but every other fucker in the country should not suffer because some people choose not to have a jab and also choose to fly in and out of the country in the last year when we are all supposed to not be travelling .

i do not even understand how planes have been coming in and out regularly when it was illegal to go abroad without permission until 17 May . Boris can try and explain that in the inquiry.

I don't disagree with your general point mate, I really don't. But there's so many unvaccinated people (and a big enough raw number fully jabbed/one dose that the vaccine unfortunately won't fully protect) that if we do things too fast then the NHS is in danger again. And not just for Covid, everything else that needs medical assistance.

No it’s not big at all, 100 cases from how many people? Certainly not big enough to have restrictions on us. If by June 21st it’s 10 times that with people in hospital and dying, that’s a different story as it will mean the vaccines haven’t worked. Otherwise we crack on.

But it's a big enough rise that should it continue then it will become a problem, is what I'm getting at. It's not going to be 100 positive tests one day and 5,000 the next, it doesn't work like that. So monitoring the growth is the only way of measuring how good/bad things are getting and a rise of 50% week on week doesn't end well if it continues. Hopefully it turns out ok, but it's not looking great atm - Glasgow in a similar boat.

It has never been illegal for a British citizen to return to the UK from anywhere in the world.
If you had looked at the exceptions to the travelling out ban you’d realise why so many flights were going.
Hell, you can even fly to India and Pakistan now for a funeral or visit someone ill!
