That can't be right, i've been a gold season ticket holder for the past 10yrs and have 6500 points.

Maybe a bit more than 6,000, but not much. No cup games (or only very few) since moving to the Etihad. He's had two major operations and so has missed a few months since we moved. I assure you it's correct - I've used his ticket for cup final tickets for my kids and have had to wait for the points to drop pretty low. Yesterday, he confirmed that it's around 6,000 ball park.

I'm not knocking the fact they're going, they have obviously amassed enough points over the years to be able to go through the assistance of the platinum tax, double points for joining the direct debit schemes and getting away tickets through supporters' clubs. If I go to the same number of games as the person next to me but they get double the credit for being there then it's obvious that they will catch up on points. To stress again, I'm not knocking those people, I'm just stating the facts.

In a way, the people who have spent all those years being rinsed through platinum have got much of their money back in the form of free travel to the final next weekend.
