If you are a woke liberal it is.Ironically, isn't this a somewhat offensive phrase?
Did I mention this forum at all in my post? This isn't Twitter (thank fuck) so when abuse and insults are aimed at a comment/member that disagrees with your opinion then the logical conclusion suggests that is your target.
No one on this forum has been racist,or abused Raheem because of his background....the criticism is because his form is awful and has been for over 12 months without any meaningful suggestion it will improve.
For those that are doing so.....To use such cheap shots to strengthen your argument is sad as fuck, and does nothing to support genuine bigotry and hatred.
An outrageously racist choice of language. Shame on you.So now you have your little paddy and clearly misunderstood my post perhaps you will rethink your post.
I think everyone would agree that his form has been very disappointing in recent months and he's not been the player of previous seasons. And I'm sure most people criticising his performances are doing so in good faith.
However, it is entirely possible that the level of stick he gets in the media and on here is increased because of unconscious bias. He has undoubtedly suffered from negative press coverage over the years and was very clear in why he thought that was the case when he showed the difference in coverage of similar tales for Foden and Tosin. I think he's probably right.
I also suspect that the level of criticism he gets on here will be in part fuelled by unconscious (and maybe in some cases, conscious) bias. That is not the same as saying everyone who criticises him is racist.
Here's a radical idea for you....try showing some humility for once, and accepting you might not be right all the time.Did I mention this forum at all in my post?
Again the stats show you are using feelings over actual events. His form has not been awful, nor has it been great. It has been indifferent in comparison to previous seasons,
So stop being a drama queen and show some intelligence.
You weren't specific,true.....but you did lump members, who do not agree with the Sterling groupies, into the same pot.You are very aware of this fact, and you are also aware its a snidey cheap shot,so dont come the smart arse and try to twist your shithousery,as you are bang out of order.Sorry for the spelling -well spotted, you'd make an excellent mod. I deliberately made it clear I wasn't calling you a racist so not sure why you are so upset. As I assume you are not a tragic far right racist bigot then I'm sure it'll be water off a ducks back. Strange that you thought my reply to russ was aimed at you, but I'm sure you have your reasons.
I am not saying that he doesn’t deserve criticism for his performances. He does as he’s been very poor at times. Not having a personal go but it’s equally possible that some people of that view are subconsciously ultra-defensive. The guy‘s earning mega money but is playing shit, FFS.
Gundo and Mahrez took a load of stick. Look how many people have since said they’re delighted to be proven wrong. Are they reformed racists?
Mendy’s still getting pelters. Are his critics unreconstructed racists?
Johnny Stones. Were his critics subliminal BLM activists?
I’m guessing you’d reply “no” to those questions. If so, what’s different about Sterling? Are there any other factors in play?
Nice. Happy to leave you to your not at all racist thing about raz then. Enjoy. You weren't specific,true.....but you did lump members, who do not agree with the Sterling groupies, into the same pot.You are very aware of this fact, and you are also aware its a snidey cheap shot,so dont come the smart arse and try to twist your shithousery,as you are bang out of order.
To even bring racism into this debate,on this forum,is unacceptable,as not one member has given cause for such an abhorrent accusation - that's my reason.
Well, with one line you say you are not calling out people who criticise him as being racist, then go on to say you otherwiseI am not saying that he doesn’t deserve criticism for his performances. He does as he’s been very poor at times.
i was also very clear that criticising him is not being racist.
I am saying that black people get more criticism than white folk by society in general and I’d be amazed if this forum some how deviated from that.
it has taken the BLM campaign to alter the balance of pundits on tv and the radio and the number of black managers is still very small. These things happen because of bias - conscious and unconscious.
I’m trying to make a distinction between conscious and unconscious reactions.Well, with one line you say you are not calling out people who criticise him as being racist, then go on to say you otherwise
Which is it?
Sorry bud, but you seem not to be doing that very well then as you say clearly that anyone criticising Sterling on BM is not a racist, then go on to say black people get more criticism than white in general and you would be surprised if posters on here were any differentI’m trying to make a distinction between conscious and unconscious reactions.
I accept I’m not being as clear as I’d like so this will be my last post on the subject.Sorry bud, but you seem not to be doing that very well then as you say clearly that anyone criticising Sterling on BM is not a racist, then go on to say black people get more criticism than white in general and you would be surprised if posters on here were any different
Fair point fella . I despise racism and iit shouldn’t even come into it with any player let alone a Man City player But he has got a lot of work to do to get himself back in the fold.I don't think he has had a great season, but I also do not think he has had as poor a season as some make out because the stats say he has not had a poor season. I also do not think he has regressed, he has been surpassed by a once in a generation talent. What I admire though about him is he has not moaned, he has kept working hard even when things do not go his way, you can not fault his work ethic and he is a leader as shown by him donning the armband.
He had an exceptional season where he scored all those goals, he is being judged against that, I thought at the time he had a purple patch, his confidence was sky high and everything he seemed to hit went in, but he still missed chances because forwards miss chances. His misses become more high profile because of who he is, remember this is the lad who appeared in the media for buying breakfast and some parts of the media will never forgive him for leaving their darlings.
The debate has become too polarised and I fear that because the debate has become polarised it gives licence to fucking idiots to tweet things like "fucking monkey" in his direction. I was ashamed to see that tweeted about one of our players because it denies our roots and we have always welcomed players of colour such as Alex Williams, The Goat and seeing that tweet really disturbed me. So I ask people be rational about him, if he has a poor game then OK he has a poor game, every footballer that has ever lived has poor games and poor spells, that though is when they need our backing not our opprobrium. Raheem is quality, he has had a season where he didn't hit the heights he previously has, but to think he will not again is a huge leap and whilst it is possible he may never hit those heights again, he is still a player who would get in any other team in the country.
And calling me a dickhead is fine mate, I reap what I sow and I am well aware I can be a dickhead and to be honest I can be a proper **** as well, but I am cuddly :))
Facts say different. Here's a radical idea for you....try showing some humility for once, and accepting you might not be right all the time.
