That's it then, time to close the thread. Only you have "even the tiniest amount of football knowledge," you are "the word". Looking forward to your book "Humility and Football Knowledge for the Ignorant" and the follow up tour entitled "Fuck off plebs I'm right"
Seriously, that’s what you took from that comment? If I had written “You’re all intelligent and knowledgeable enough to know that Sterling isn’t playing well”, would you have taken the same offence?

What I took from the comment ,in the context of some of your other comments ,was a touch of arrogance and "trust me I know more than you lot", not offence. More unnecessarily sneering than offensive, suggesting not agreeing with you indicated a lack of football knowledge on the part of those disagreeing. “You’re all intelligent and knowledgeable enough to know that Sterling isn’t playing well”, that's just bullshitting, easily seen through.

Well I can assure you there was no malice/arrogance intended. I might be opinionated, but I am big enough and daft enough to acknowledge that I get things wrong on here all the time. You only have to review my previous posts re Stones and Rodri to see that. Despite what you might think, I also hope I am proven wrong re Sterling (again).

My apologies for misreading your intentions and lumping you in with the rest.

Wow,theres some irony right there.....you accuse him of the very thing that those who have been defending him regardless.....have been doing throughout this thread.

Anyway kick off, hopefully Sterling has a MOTM performance.

No, of course not. But they all deserved flak at some point. If people want to come on here and defend every single player, no matter what, fair play to them. They probably have a lot lower blood pressure than I do. If I could ignore the poor performances, I would, rightly or wrongly, it’s not in my nature.

That's fair enough. And you do go to the effort of explaining your reasoning, which I always appreciate, even if it's different to my own.

I think there are two related but separate lines of criticism of Sterling right now. There's the form argument, which is that right now Sterling isn't playing well enough to be in the team, but is fundamentally a decent player (even if you believe he could potentially be upgraded on).

Then there's the quality argument, which is that Sterling is fundamentally not good enough to be at City at all. I have some sympathy for the form argument, less so for the quality argument.

That's the down side of forums and social media, absence of the nuances of face to face communication leads to words and comments can be lost in translation. We all hope for the best for the club in our own ways. Enjoy the second half of this harum scarum game.

He hasnt displayed great form for nearly 18 months.......When was the last time he was MOTM? or even a candidate?

Do you genuinely get excited when he's on the ball anymore? do think there is more chance of him creating than there is him fluffing his lines?

Try and be honest.
Be honest? I literally gave you facts in the form of statistics and data, what's more honest than that?

You're conflating a fact with an opinion.

Has to be said we looked so much more fluid, direct and dangerous without sterling constantly slowing down our approach play with either a shit first touch or him standing still as long as he can before going back to the fullback. Needs an extended period out of the side/as an impact sub but I dont see it happening he's still one of Peps go to players and will start most big games.
