Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

I'm not, it was a penalty.

If you read my inital post, not taking anything away from Chelsea, not blaming the ref for others in the game (i never mentione a red card btw). They defended well and took the chance. We didnt take ours early on, couldnt make anythi g happen after.

The Penalty was a penalty though. I'm sure. it hit his hand, which was away from the body. That is a penalty. As I said, may have made no differnce in the end, but VAR shat the bed.
well sorry dude the well trained, impartial refs decided it wasnt and they know more rules than you who is incredibly biased

You don’t need a Champions League winners medal to spot a dreadful team selection. Honestly, you don’t. Same way we don’t need to have been an MP to criticise the government. Anyone knocking Pep is spot on. His team selection was appalling.

This..... its no coincidence the majority of fans was pissed off before the ball was fucking kicked. I'm so pissed off that he didn't just play our normal team.

Probably best when we know how they play not to tickle their bollocks then. The managers performance in Europe has been wank. Tonight and against Lyon can only be described as ineptitude.

We have been beaten 3 times by the 4th best team in England, once in a champions league final, once on the fa cup semi final, we have been knocked out by Lyon.

Throw in Monaco spurs and Liverpool who were all below us in standard. That is a piss poor record. In Europe he is a poor manager. The only question is how important the champions league is. His stature is being harmed by this shit and our players are suffering from the decisions he makes.
Very similat to the piss can at old T, great domestic manager but did not do it in europe

With a neutral ref we pick our best team and win that but when you go into a game knowing you can't tackle you start off on the back foot.
Maybe we over thought the referee and we were very hesitant to put a foot in although the times that we did generally ended up with a freekick to Chelsea. We were basically a bit naive in terms of European Football, we need to learn that any kind of contact means fall over and scream, tackles aren't allowed and play acting is king. I'd rather we didn't play that way but we did OK against a million pound Burnley tonight, we didn't play our best but neither did they.
As.Ben Chilwell said, they knew the key to the game was to be aggressive in the tackle, they knew 100% they would be allowed to be aggressive, we didn't. This is European Football.

I am going to swallow this and say Chelsea deserved it. Two flaws tonight as I saw it, was Pep's arrogant selection and Sterling's performance.
What game were you watching where you picked out Sterling's performance as shit? Come on man. Ive been on his case all season but he was our best player in the first half (not saying a lot). The tactics were wrong as you said and our players (KDB, Mahrez who was particularly dreadful, Walker first half) were bad.

I’m not as gutted as I thought I would be. I am really disappointed for the people who went out there though, with all the nonsense at the moment. I think they were let down by our team and manager. Piss poor.

This defeat was born with the FA semi final defeat and then the League defeat. If Pep thought he was disguising his hand it failed dismally. Chelsea learnt how to beat Peps system and even if our personnel change they came in confident their system could beat us. Then Pep decided to mix it up with a bizarre move that essentially handed the initiative to Chelsea before a ball was kicked.
What people don't understand is, if you lose you're damned if you change it and you're damned if you don't. Ferdo and Rodri started the FA Cup defeat against Chelsea, they've beaten us twice recently so who wouldn't try something different? If it was that simple we'd all be managers. If we were that bad we'd havew won nothing. Even Mount is just saying they've more or less just won because they got one break and spent the rest of the game defending, at least they recognise we weren't as bad as people make out.

Who picks a team based on a ref? It's nonsensical. The refs are always bent in Uefa so why change tactics now.

If I was the Sheikh, I would reimburse all the fans who travelled. That was utterly unacceptable. All that money and effort to get there and they were the only thing about City that turned up. The only thing. Heart goes out to them all.
