Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

Got to give a lot of credit to Tuchel. Chelsea have some excellent players and he has organised them well. I thought in the quarters that Chelsea were the last team we would want to play in the final and they proved that tonight. Disappointed but not even close the the worst that I have felt as a blue (losing 6-0 against Derby still the nadir for me).
Some of the matchday posters should be banned end of.
Agree 100%. I said back when we lost to them in the FAC I had a horrible feeling that they were going to screw up our perfect season, and I knew as soon as they got to the final that we were up against it. Tuchel has done wonders since he took over, two major trophies and a 4th place finish? How would they have done if he's been in charge from the start? He made it to the CL final last year with a different team, then left PSG and they lost the league title for the first time in years.

Few people on here (if any) are giving them enough credit. The only thing I'm wondering is why so many of tonight's posters are not top football managers. Quite disturbing to read most of tonight's posts, I thought we were better thlan this. We weren't this bitter when we were crap, what changed?

Can't win them all, so so marginal. They got the goal, we didnt. VAR robbed us of a penalty, they defended superbly. They played every trick in the book.

Sterling starting was the only difference from our best lineup, so hardly the tinkering this is made out to be. Maybe made the difference, but they had our number so something needed shook up. Could have been jesus maybe.

Heart goes out to kev, sergio, all the players, pep, and all blues there and here.

There was no penalty in it us.

Chicken and egg though, yes agree many players didn’t play as well as they can, stray passes, poor positioning etc. Could be nerves and/or a coz of playing a system which doesn’t suit them or protect the space in front of the back. That one selection changed the dynamic of the whole team.
Agree to a point, but good teams adapt, wasn't like he'd thrown a one legged man they didn't know in there was it. Annoyed we diddo 'our thing' but shit hapoens, we were awful.

Not playing the proper 11 against them TWICE was a fucking mistake and all the clever cunts here who said it wasn't are dead wrong. Find out your opponents weaknesses and your own!

What a load of shite!
We’ve gone out tonight because tinkermen has overlooked what has got him to the final in the first fucking place.
Ederson
Walker
Dias
Stones
Zinchenko
Dinho
Gundo
Bernado
Mahrez
De Bruyne
Foden

it’s not fucking science!
Fair enough.
When you manage your football team do you always pick your regular team or do you change it depending on the situation?
As a lowly football fan I'd love to know the thought of a top level professional like yourself.

Thanks you bitter red plank.
Can't stop laughing at your response, cheered me up no end.
Have a wank under my pep duvet you bellend??

Suppose you're sat in a Phil Jones onesie yeah?

When you've made a total fool of yourself revert to calling someone a red or a rag.
Your in a minority of one in thinking tonight's shit show wasn't on Pep and his non selection of a recognised defensive midfielder.
Phil Jones onsie, how old are you, you fucking div.

Are you having a laugh...Gundogan is not a defensive midfield player....who TF is our leading goal scorer this year ? and how did Sterling get in the team before Fernandinho/Rodri...Once again manager giving too much credit to the opposition when we are the best Fkin team in the world !!
So what is he. Doesn't provide assists. Doesn't support the defence. Doesn't provide creative play

If you win the champions league it doesn’t make you a great team but if you don’t win it you can never be regarded as one.

Cheers pep
Correct, it doesn't.

I just wanted this one for Pep, as a "thank you" for what he has done for City, to cement his creditials in the eye of his critics. Sadly , tonight it was not meant to be. I will never discredit him for what he has done for City, nor judge this result as a moniker for his successes at the club.

But the reality is that his "meddling" in th squad formations and line-ups has cost him this accolade, and it should be pointed out. If winning th CL is his goal, he has failed. He hasn't failed me personally, though. I'm not 'sad' for Manchester City, i'm 'sad' for Pep.

In reflection just so disappointing so many players were below their best , pointing the finger at Pep for the tactics is a fair comment , but nearly all our team couldnt control and pass the ball with pace , and that is our game.
Tuchel had Chelski organised and determined to stop us and every credit to them , by far the better team on the night and 0-1 flattered us, it could have been far worse if they had a decent finisher.
We gambled on getting the first goal and drawing Chelsea out. Left us wide open to the counter attack. Switched off when our players left the pitch. What did Pep say ?

I'll say it again, look in the post histories - most of these twats thought we'd be "lucky" to make top 6 in December.

Now we've won the title, made our first CL final, and it's not good enough. Pep out and all that. Absolute rubbish.

And one of the main reasons we go out every year in the champions League. Offers absolutely nothing. Kante had him in his pocket all day along with several others
Because we hung him out to dry. He's a fantastic attacking mid. Play him in a defensive role on his own and like anyone is surprised he got reamed

As I've said a few times tonight, both Fernadinho and Rodri started against Chelsea in the FAC - if he'd picked them and we'd lost everybody would be saying exactly the same thing as they are tonight.

Everyone is going completely over the top over a shit cup we all hated until recently. There was one goal, one shot in it and we came up against a very good defence. There's no guarantee we would have won, or not lost by a higher margin if he'd played a different team. Had Foden's chance not been blocked we might have been telling a very different story, it's just fine margins that all.
Dude, it's quite simple. If we'd have picked the same team vs Chelsea as we did vs PSG, tonight would have been a different result. Our mentality was all wrong too.

Last Sunday, everyone from Pep down to the tea lady was too giddy for my liking, because our season was far from over. There's nothing worse than having to pick yourself up, to go again. It's always better to maintain momentum, & since we reached the final, that's what we failed to do.

I love Pep, & wouldn't swap him for the world, but he's got previous for what happened tonight.

What nonsense. Gundogan has been one our best players all season. Potential POTY candidate. And Rodri has been brilliant barring a couple of wobbles lately.
POTY my ---. Garbage player. Can't attack can't defend can't assist can't shoot. A passenger who gets into the team because he's peps neighbor
