We had another poor first half like in Paris, and this time it was fatal. Also, we didn't learn enough from the previous two losses vs Chelsea.
We weren't patient enough in the build-up and made mistakes. Chelsea used some of them for dangerous counters and defended brilliantly, tbf.
Think that the heroic efforts from December to March when we won 21 games in a row cost us in the final months. Cancelo, Rodri, Bernardo, Gundogan were crucial in that period, but lost a bit of form after that. Even Dias wasn't at his best recently and was arguably responsible for their goal. Kevin wasn't in the game and made mistakes. Still, his injury was pretty bad, for he could create a goal out of nothing.
Did Pep make a mistake with the first XI? Maybe he did, but nobody could be sure that the final outcome would have been different. Think Sterling was better than say Kevin and Mahrez, at least in the first half. A lot of people on here underestimated Chelsea before the game. They played pretty well, our current style suits their strengths, similarly with us and Liverpool 2-3 years ago.
We have lost a bit of form since early March, which is normal. Next season we will reinforce our attack and go again.
Thanks for this season to Pep and the players. Hopefully we will do even better next season.
