Jack Grealish

But they wouldn’t need another Grealish replacement with these two, is the point
I think the point was that they would be selling Grealish after buying these two.
All I said is one is a replacement for Barkley (on loan) and the other is a general upgrade, especially with Trezeguet out with an ACL.

He literally gets fucking smashed to bits every game. You lot having a pop at him for going down ‘easy’ would be crying like a girl getting walloped all the time like he does.

It’s football not rugby league why the fuck shouldn’t he go down when he gets fouled? Couldn’t give a fuck if ppl see it as cheating if it benefits Manchester City football club then sign me up as the biggest fan.

This lad literally got attacked and punched by a scumbag Birmingham fan from behind dusted himself off and scored the winner for the team. He is a sensational player.
He gets "fouled" because he doesn't get rid of the bloody ball fast enough. He plays for the foul. That's zero use to us. I don't want to see us trying to score all our goals from set pieces. I much prefer goals from open play

He didn’t dive today for me, he initiated contact and went down. He did through great play in tight space, acceleration and strength.

It was always a penalty but one won and I can see the frustration if given against us.

For me we have no immediate need for him and it would cost a lot of money, but I can see why Pep would want him. I also believe if we brought him he would quickly become one of the first names on the team sheet and as fans we would really warm to him.

He would become one of the stand out players in the Premier League, so in truth I’m all for it and would be a signing that I couldn’t wait to see play for City.
Is initiating contact another word for cheating?

Dress it up as much as you want. If he were such a cheat, we wouldn't be looking at him, would we?
After watching Dave Silva playing for us for 10 years I don't really relish the idea of having to support a player who looks to gain an advantage by trying to con the officials as often as Grealish does.

Leeds boy. No affiliation to Villa
Do you know if he has a release clause? If so, any idea for what amount?

If he does, he's coming here, if not it's top 4 for Villa. There's only 1 player better offensive player in the Premier League than Grealish and that's Foden. Foden edges it because he's much quicker.

I watched him the other night against Austria and every single time he got the ball they fouled him
The defender didn’t worry about gaining an advantage by cheating did he??
So why should grealish not go down easy when he thinks he can gain an advantage for his team
I think in our team he would move the ball quicker and be less reliant on free kicks to move up the pitch but either way a foul is a foul
He turns the normal every match run of the mill contact into a foul. Last night's pen was a classic example. Were he to arrive in Beswick Pep would tell him or the refs would book him.

watching him yesterday I thought exactly the same thing David, every bit of contact is a foul. If he was ever to sign for City I would be worried that he would stifle the flow of our game with all the stoppages . He has a lot of talent but I would like him to stay on his feet a bit more.

That’s probably where we’ve gone wrong over the years it never did barca or Madrid any harm

initiating "contact" seems to be preconcieved, take that out of his game and he could be a real asset. Very quick feet, able to find a way out of lost-cause situations, disguises passes, and capable of the unexpected. Not being the biggest fish in the pond, may or may not be a problem for him. The entire thread is based on pure speculation, which passes the time but is just that , a hobby/pass-time. Carry on...

Some of the ‘cons’ put on here make me laugh. Holding onto the ball to long, going down too easily etc. are all things that, if told by a coach to stop then he’ll stop. That’s what footballers do.

Players with us don’t hold onto the ball too long. Mahrez used to them hardly played and now he doesn’t unless he’s attacking his marker.

If Grealish came then he’d be moulded into the player Pep wants him to be so if we’re chasing him then it’s because we recognise attributes in his game that we can mould. Easy as that really.

He's intelligent enough to do it when he knows it's a free kick, like someone charging into the back of him. He's a threat and the opposition know it so they give him a kick and target him. Kane's another expert at winning free kicks for very little - but enough - contact. Ball fired into him, takes a touch, holds defender behind him then falls onto the ball - free kick.

Most of our players take one or two touches and keep the ball moving. De Bruyne is someone who takes a few more or looks to run with the ball to make things happen and as a result is fouled a lot.

There are definitely things Grealish can improve on, but that's two England games in a row now where the performances all round have been fairly poor but he's been involved in the goals. He opened Austria up with his little ball round the corner to Kane (who showed great movement), then split the defence looking to get on the end of the return ball.

And he showed good nous to get into the box and draw the foul for the penalty yesterday. Maybe it's overruled without VAR but there was some contact and as a defender if you are wrong side you are in trouble when trying to make a tackle or get back into position.

Salah is a cheat, truthfully every time you see him with the ball he looks for a penalty or free kick if he does not have a shooting opportunity..I would not put Grealish in that league at all..he is a manipulator and frankly, whilst I could never condone Salah at our club, if we are to win the CL , we need to start to becoming a little more adept at playing the game to its limits of fairness..and please dont say City are whiter than white because Fern is a master at stopping counter-attacks, and someone has to take that role when he is gone.

The thing is, and it's been said before, that he plays for Villa who will see set pieces as a golden route to scoring a goal. Same with England, definitely under Southgate anyway, so Grealish won't be discouraged from winning those free kicks under GS and Dean Smith.

If he joins City, it'll be brought out of him IMO or we'll keep it in his game presuming we get a proper number 9 this Summer. We're already a threat at set pieces now with Stones, Dias and Rodri plus KDB's delivery so add Grealish winning free kicks in vital areas and it's a valid threat to have.
