Was having to come too deep to receive the ball and play in too much traffic. Despite that, regularly looked like one of our few attacking threats.

Should never have been moved from the left wing where he's given us his best performances all season.

He’s been quite poor in central midfield this season. All of his worst games for the club have come in central midfield.

He’s grown into the best left forward in Europe for me over the last six months and gets stuck in midfield tonight. And to see a lad who has had one good game all season playing wide left instead was infuriating.

Baffling from Pep!

you’ve said that a few times about foden in the middle. He’s barely played there, so I find it very difficult to judge him in that role. Those games with him in the middle especially at the beginning of the season the whole team played poor

his long term position is the middle. He has everything for that role, just need patience and some experience playing there

Our brightest star, played out of position in a cup final, significantly reducing his effectiveness.

Phil was hung out to dry by Pep last night, just to make room for the most predictable player in the squad. I couldn't believe that they weren't asked to switch positions within the first ten minutes.

Poor management.

Played well there against Everton last week.

The run by Sterling for an Ederson pass would probably have been a goal with Foden. It's insane that Pep chose to weaken 4 positions by picking Sterling.

Left wing got weaker coz Foden is better than Sterling.

RCM got weaker coz Gundo controls better than Foden.

DM for weaker coz we neither had Rodri nor Dihno (both in good to great form coming into this game)

LB got weaker coz the interchange between Zinchencko and Foden was lost.

The knock on effect on AM die to Bernado having to play pseudo- co-dm also made Debryune less effective.

Granted, some of all this is due to Chelsea's styfling style of play.

Bit Pep really helped them :(

Very disappointing!!!

All part of Foden's learning curve he has mastered the wide positions and is now a major threat to the opposition , Pep has stated he will be testing him in a more central midfield role a position he has to learn , Merlin was a superb example of a number ten/ creative central midfielder and where i think Phil eventually will be more effective.
A few average games whilst learning the central position will be to the clubs benefit , fully expect him to be the main midfiled orchestrator in a couple of seasons and if he gets to Merlin's standards we will have a truyl world class player in our midst.

that haircut makes him look a right gimp. Also nice of him to put so much extra pressure on himself by embracing the Gascoigne buzz, if he doesn't win the tournament single-handed he'll get the Sterling treatment whilst the media fawn over their beloved Mount.
