It's absolutely ridiculous, it's bad enough with foreign holidays, now they are saying (more or less) that you shouldn't go to Blackpool, lakes etc. Soon they will be telling people you can't go out in your garden.
YET Millions and millions have been vaccinated yet were still under some form of regional punishment 15 months on.
It's a fucking joke

It’s true though isn’t it. You want to live in fear all your life then go ahead. Let us live our lives. Deaths are low, have been for weeks now, they’ll remain so because of the vaccine roll out. Not hard to understand is it?

As I have said often in the past year - the messaging has been terrible throughout this whole mess.

Am starting to ask myself if it was intentional not just incompetence - with the idea it can then always be laid out as someone elses fault for not listening to whatever contradictory advice you were meant to interpret in the way they will figure out later it should have been based on whatever consequences it has.

Consider this - "Road traffic accidents set to increase by 70,000 per day in the UK", so if that were the news then you would expect more deaths to follow, right?

Of course the vaccines will save many from that fate when coronavirus cases increase, which is great news.

But not everyone, and importantly a lot of people will still require hospital treatment. If it all happens in too many numbers at the one time, there's the problem.

695 cases - waa 478 last week

5,0% positivity - was 3.1% last week - rising fast here.

121 patients - down 1 on yesterday - was 106 last week

12 ventilated icu - same as yesterday - was 10 last week


Still no major upturn in hospital numbers which is good news

Absolutely intentional. They don't want to be seen as the "bad guys" so avoid making firm decisions wherever possible. Then when/if it goes tits up, they can just say "Well, we did advise people not to do that, but unfortunately they chose to ignore us." They've been doing it the entire time.

If cases now go to 10 thousand per day but thanks to the vaccines only 1% of them require hospital treatment - that's 100 people out of every 1,000.

Using small round figures just to demonstrate the point btw.

I listen to everything and everyone. But i also have a sense of safely getting on with life

again... my point was lost in your analysis.

there are experts on the tv who have thrived and enjoyed being in the spot light. For example. GMTV gave air time to an ‘expert’ who was advising total lock down again. She was gleaming!!! She was enjoying being on tv giving her opinion. That was the original point made my someone. People are enjoying all this , enjoying pontificating. Enjoying throwing there opinions about. When its all over, where will they go?
