It should come as no surprise. I think people forget that London has the largest Indian (absolute) population (c550k), and a number of those may well have travelled to India recently, and that the population of the capital is a bit bigger than the NW.
Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington and Southwark also have the worst levels of vaccination in the country because there are far too many morons living there who think the state is out to get them.
Vaccination prevents serious illness.

Friday for me, trying to find somewhere to watch the game against the jocks
Same here mate , I will be in Mevagissey and asked the question on Tripadvisor forum , didn’t really get a answer . I’ve also email The Wheel House where we are staying but they’ve not replied

meanwhile in India where bodies were stacked up outside hospitals and floating down the river just a few weeks ago, eases lockdown restrictions

all bonkers .won’t find it on the news .

A very worrying and upsetting day
Just as we thought we were turning corner
It's like a never ending nightmare.
Still too many dick heads. See them every day - wearing masks but as chin warmers, or under the nose, generally behaving as though all restrictions have been lifted, ignoring freely available sanitisation stations. Going on holidays abroad despite a fluid situation in Europe and then moaning about costs when their gamble doesn't work out.

This latest variant has been a real kick in the guts.

But we will get there now soon, I think, as long as we don't make it worse.

It’s going to test the efficacy of the vaccines and should we pull through this relatively unscathed, it could turn out to be a massive positive down the line.

I think the vaccines seem fine. We'd have it moving far more aggressively up the age ranges if not, I think.

I'm very optimistic, but extremely frustrated at the same time. Six weeks ago everything looked so positive.

Totally empathise with that. We still could be looking rosy in 6 weeks from now. Let’s hope so.

Of note Greater Glasgow and Clyde is back up again both day to day and also week on week. I use Greater Glasgow to compare with Bolton as both seemed particularly hit with Delta around the same time. Sadly after a plateau and slight decline, cases have accelerated a little bit again. Hopefully this trend can be stopped and a reverse will follow.
Unfortuntely much the same has occurred with Bolton. It fell to what is now the new normal in Greater Manchester but seems ro have stuck there.

Hospital data not so good.

Admissions up from 80 last week to 121.

NW from 25 to 45

NW numbers not been below 30 a day all week.

The only region showing this growth usurprisingly.

England Patients up 19 to 879. - 103 week to week rise. Biggest in months.

Ventilators also up to 140 - was 123 last week,

NW risen again to 47 - highest in the UK and more than double the 22 they had 2 weeks ago today.

If you missed my post saying this we went over 1000 in hospital in the UK again for the first time in a week or two yesterday.
the vast amount of these are unvaccinated 50 plus year olds. There's only 2 million of these people out there that's 34,000 hospitalisations in total so nothing to worry about

Empathy is clearly not one of your strong points. People will have their own reasons and their own experiences. You are in no position to judge them.
No, their maker can judge them if they’ve simply decided not to have the vaccine and are in the “at risk” group. Why should anyone empathise with those selfish bastards?

Yep they are low. But also worth noting that they have particularly high concentrations of ethnic minorities and I would think many do not speak English. Especially in Tower Hamlets and Southwark. I suggest proportion of ethnic minorities will surpass 60% in the Census data due to be released later this year.

A particular problem in London are the estimated high levels of those who are not registered with a GP. Many reasons for that... People avoiding authorities for whatever reason, some not knowing how to register, some with no permanent address etc.. Of course, this creates problems, especially bottlenecks at A&Es due to them being full of people who could have been dealt with by a GP. North Middlesex Hospital was crudely referred to as 'being like a UN feeding station' by a local Tory Councillor.

Only way we getting through this is the world to get vaccinated, means the transmission of the virus will diminish from people who get it who are vaccinated plus top up vaccinations..
