But did you spot any spelling mistakes, sound errors or bad lighting that we can piss our pants over?
Nah. The first visit was at a random time and there was some bloke waffling about fuck knows what. I thought I wasn’t being fair so I tried tuning in on the hour where most news channels actually report some news but it was another bloke (former showbiz columnist from the Sun I found out after) waffling on about fuck knows what again. As I no longer plan to tune in again this will be my last post on this thread.

Epstein wasn't a paedo and ventilators killed people. Just a couple of things that have been broadcast on this new channel.

Good luck on that hill

Shouldn't Offcom be taking an interest in this BS ? If those views were expressed on the Beeb the supporters of GB News would he having a twitter storm of protests

For a "news " channel there hasn't been any news so far - not even an hourly or half hourly headlines bulletin I am told. Even Fox news manages that.

The Irish Times seems to have the measure of them...

GB News, week 1: It takes until Tuesday to go full wingnut

There’s a moment during the first Monday night of GB News’s programming when its chairman, the former BBC broadcaster Andrew Neil, finds himself staring into the abyss. The Abyss’s name is Dan Wootton, and the Abyss is very pleased with himself. He’s cheerfully telling Neil about his fact-free lockdown scepticism, and Neil, who is still wedded to logic, looks worried that his career is in a burning clown car.

The grinning Abyss has a three-hour programme every night (straight after Neil’s), featuring other nihilistic information vacuums like Nigel Farage and Rod Liddle. I believe it’s called Stare into the Abyss for Three Hours, and it does what it says on the tin...

...It doesn’t take long for Wootton to go full wingnut. On Tuesday he highlights a baseless conspiracy theory about how lockdowns might ultimately be a government plot to curb carbon emissions. Does he have facts to back this up? No. But he’s the type of journalist who doesn’t need facts. He prefers to ask questions. You know, like your four-year-old: What is a dog? Why is the moon? Are spiders happy? Is Isis funding the BBC?

There are some dissenting voices on Wootton’s panel, but most of his guests are a who’s-who of trollkind. They include Allison Pearson, Rod Liddle, Claire Fox, Megyn Kelly, Laurence Fox, Lady Colin Campbell, Lord Voldemort, Scrooge McDuck, the millionaire from the cover of the Monopoly Box, Cruella DeVil, Megatron, Gargamel from the Smurfs and Nigel Farage. (Only the worst seven actually appear.)...

what a breath of fresh air''

GB News viewers 'switch off' as similarities to BBC mocked 'What's the point?'

One frustrated viewer tweeted: “An apology to those who said @GBNEWS was no different to BBC etc... You were right... Although there's a very small percentage of opposite views, I see the vast majority are simply pushing the vaccines instead of questioning them... Switched off now….”

Another wrote: “Viewing figures suggest that @GBNEWS has become the mouthpiece for the #KBF cult.

“Its anti lockdown, anti-government has driven viewers away. I'm disappointed as I had high hopes but I've tried numerous times to watch and I can't get into it. It's like BBC News, both unwatchable.”

While a third said: “I don't watch it but this @GBNEWS appears to be a government propaganda arm. Just like the BBC Thought they were meant to be fresh insight?”

Someone else shared: “And I was just starting to watch and enjoy @GBNEWS but giving opinions without supporting facts from someone in such a privileged position is no better than the BBC. Oh well, I’ll keep looking for a sensible and serious news outlet.”

A fifth added: “What is the point of them shouting from the rooftops that they are different if they employ BBC tactics?”

I’m not surprised people are switching off but I really don’t get the comparisons to the BBC. Maybe I’ve not watched it enough but they seem nothing like each other
