Daily deaths are the only stat I look at these days. Too much white noise and piss poor projections of cases>hospital admisions>deaths. The death numbers are very small compared to where we were and vaccines seem to offer excellent protection. I guess some have done the research on who is actually dying now. Is it people that have underlying conditions but have been vaccinated or is the virus just mopping up weak stragglers in the herd that missed Immunisation?. In terms of sporting events, not much point keeping them out of stadiums but organising mass open air viewing

Oldham and Wigan did the most over the two days

Stockport first GM borough to give over 80% first doses and closing in on first to get to 60% second doses.

My friend who lives near the small town where The Walton's was set in the Blue Ridge Mountains (in case you did not know it was a true story and John Boy Walton was really writer Earl Hamner Junior who narrated every episode) told me in February last year a pandemic was coming and gear up now.

She was adamant that this was going to be a huge problem for the world. Her son is an ER doctor in Seattle where the first US cases came in from a rest home. She said he was scared witless.

She told me to follow what she had just done which was to go out and buy one of those full Haz Mat suits. Alomg with a gun and months of food and dog food. She used to drive in the Haz Mat suit around there delivering medical supplies last Spring and Summer.

I thought she was nuts. At first. But it is why I started collating the data. As I knew she really believed the world was in big trouble.

The long running TV series - The Waltons - ended with John Boy commentating on the Moon Landing. But if they ever do a sequel I can see this as an episode.

Mate last 3 months the 5 year average death rate is down by a lot but you don’t hear about that in the media

Oh but don’t try and say that it’s a disgrace or that we should be moving faster.
We should be concerned about the scarients and covid spreads therefore it’s more important than trying to get back to normal NHS duties like diagnosing cancer.

whilst true , the higher the case numbers then the chances of higher death count (3-4 weeks later) so whilst we know vaccines are doing a great job, hitting 16,000 new cases isn’t so great. It’s never going to peak like previous waves but we’re still a little bit in uncharted waters this time round.

I must admit I am ( I think ) beginning to break the covid. I went round my kid brothers house the other day for a bbq. We went inside as it started to rain for a few hours.
My aunt and uncle have visited this week from Cornwall and came in for a brew.
This weekend my kid brother, aunt and uncle are coming over for a bbq.

We might be breaking covid19 guidelines. We have followed the guidelines to the letter but we have all had the jab.
We see packed beaches and than the jocks all packed into London.

My close family and our kids all have had the jab now. So we are living life like normal now. That could be breaking guidelines I guess, I dont know !

But after 18 of doing nothing and watching so many people breaking guidelines. I think we are being sensible. I still wear a mask in shops etc and wash hands alot 2 metre rule etc when out and about in public

If the ONS figures of 86.6% of adults in England having antibodies are right, we must be coming up on HI very fast?
 
I suspect a few countries will go green soon but they will probably bar us from entry due to the soaring infection rates here. If I was them I’d put us on the equivalent of their red lists.

It would be excellent news for cases to now rocket.
Normal life = lots of cases.
Cases no longer = death or serious illness to any significant level.
 
Here's what I don't get right,, your far far far more likely to die from smoking or get seriously ill through smoking than covid,
This is coming from a 20 a day man,, I know stupid twat I am.
But here's the thing if the governments of the world are so hell bent on saving lives all of a sudden, why do they simply not ban cigarettes and you could probably say alcohol,
That would save millions of lives world wide on a yearly basis, I don't get it.
It's almost like nothing bad exists anymore other than covid...... Anyway love some one to explain,, I think I know the reasons for not banning cigarettes, as I think most do,or alcohol come to that, but as I said if the world has become hell bent on saving the worlds population as they'd have you believe ,
Then surely they would start with those 2 "evils",, no... Or am I missing something???

As I may have mentioned about 200 times.

it’s not the deaths that is the focus.

It is the NHS being overwhelmed and not enough ICU beds and nurses to staff them - if the NHS has no room for sick patients unable to breathe going into hospitals then we are simply in a world of hell.

Smoking comparison is pointless as the need for hospitalisation doesn’t come anywhere close to how rapid Covid patients can increase - if smoking suddenly caused a huge concern for the NHS to cope with then they would ban cigarettes and probably start to inflict stricter rules and regulations - at present, they don’t burden the NHS, and if people want to smoke themselves to death - that’s on them. There’s enough warnings about it.
