Outwith what he says though, there IS however a difference. In the past 6 months he could have negotiated with other clubs, even agreed a pre-contract.

From tomorrow, he is no longer a Barcelona player, and can formally sign for them.

They can’t. They will have paid him off, probably a year or two’s salary. He still had four years on his deal
