It is definitely a comfort blanket for the more anti social / anxious. Totally dehumanising things. I smiled at the check out girl in the supermarket and realised she had no idea. So took it off and smiled
I bet she isn't too pleased that she is having to pretend that she is flattered by the grins of the local slime balls again though.

We’ve to live with this and let's get on with the living bit -bollocks to Masks, and restrictions and the rest of it.

It’s interesting that mask wearing is such a big deal to some and almost irrelevant to others. Maybe it’s a psychological thing about being told to wear one.

Sure they make breathing a bit less comfortable, but the amount of time we have to wear one is limited in the U.K.

Hopefully when all this is finished and we have a resemblance of normality, I hope people will still wear them when they have a cold. They could even put Vicks on the inside to help them breathe!

Nowadays, with pretty much every major issue in this country we seem to have sizeable and vocal groups of people taking up extreme viewpoints. I find it all rather tiring, to be honest.

It would be good if we all took up the position of being courteous and understanding towards others. If that means wearing a mask for a few minutes, then we should. While if a colleague doesn't want to meet in a small, unventilated meeting room, have a discussion over a coffee in the cafeteria/restaurant or chat via Teams or Zoom. If a cab driver asks you to wear a mask, just do it.

Can certainly see some rows at the bars in pubs: "Do you have to stand so close, fucking breathing all over me?" It could become the new "you spilt my drink" row in the boozer.

you really can’t blame teens/early 20’s that want to drink and have fun again mate
You think it is only teens and 20yo's lol

They could have held off until we had all had our jabs, a few more months is all it would take after a hellish 14+ months.

What was it today, 27k new infections?

They locked down at 11-16k the first time.

the other thing is, 'teens' catch it, go home and then the parent has to self-isolate and doesn't get paid, don't get paid, can't afford to pay the mortgage and other bills, it was hard enough during lockdown without overtime money, never mind 2 weeks of SSP money.

Mask wearing has only ever bothered me when it's been hot, which it probably is for 3/4 weeks of the year in the UK and Ireland. Maybe it's a sad aftermath of all of this but it's been so long since I didn't wear one in shops, on public transport etc, that it just doesn't bother me now. I personally haven't found it that difficult.

Might stick with it until two weeks after my second jab.

After that I think it'll be time to move on and stop wearing one.

So not sure what to put on the poll.

You want some? ;-)

I agree. Seems being sensible and talking at a normal level is a thing of the past.

I’m obviously missing something.

young people want to go out , drink and party .. they shouldn’t be labelled as ‘desperate twats’ because after a year and a half of restrictions they want to go out again.

Tough. I want to do that as well. It won't kill them to stay in for a bit longer.

We're relaxing the restrictions too soon for me.

Think I’ll continue to wear one in shops and on public transport, but not at the Etihad next season.
