I’ve been thinking this myself. Pep and City have had a huge influence on this England team. The way we play, the spirit, the confidence, the players…whilst it would be arrogant to say that’s all it is, it is a significant factor.
And how many blues like me were thinking FFS when Pickford was kicking it long. In that 2nd half of ET we had a few glimpses of Pep game management play by keeping hold of the ball to see the game out. But you could tell by how many times we gave it away that not everyone was comfortable with that save our blues

I am constantly amazed at all the distress Sky causes Bluemooners.

Sky doesn't bother me at all because I never ever, ever watch it and never ever, ever will.

Murdoch = criminal and professional GIT.

JJ

Murdoch hasn't owned Sky for over 3 years.

Written 5 years ago....

Kirchhoff:

"I don’t think Germany won the World Cup because of our unbelievable national head coach [Joachim Low]. I think we won it because of Guardiola and Klopp. It was because these talented players were taking all the football knowledge they’d learnt from their club coaches into the national team.

"It depends how many English players Guardiola has at City. But everyone who plays for him will tell you he makes you so much better. You understand this game in a totally different way.

“If Guardiola has a lot of English players they’ll improve and make the England team better...."
Great find that. I hope that in the aftermath of a win there will some gratitude given to Pep for his contribution to the success. It’s his footballing style that’s bought this country together. He’s the mastermind behind it all. Fair play to Savage for acknowledging Peps influence. Ok I’m done now, rant over.

is it just me….but why are the City pages in the MEN full of negativity! The only one who seems to be pro City is Stewart Brennan. Since the days of Chris Bailey only Stewart has positive comments all the rest revel in telling us our transfer plans are down the pan etc.
just for once it would be brilliant if we broke the bank with a couple of deals. Khaldoon said this window would be disruptive in our rebuilding can’t wait for this to start but back to my original question how satisfied are we with the reporters assigned to bring us genuine news? In the City section of the MEN?

I can't disagree with these sentiments.
Well, I disagree with this:"they have nothing else".
What is this nonsense?
Just off the top of my head, we have:
THE best contemporary popular music and a fantastic record in the modern era.
An open democracy with enormous freedom.
An multi ethic country which is doing quite well at making the changes necessary
Hand pulled beer of astonishing variety and quality.
The best top football league in Europe.
A brilliant one day cricket team
Wimbledon
The best Indian cooking outside Asia
The wonderfully beautiful Yorkshire dales
Great athletes bound for the Olympics.
And so much more.....
Oh they have great bacon in denmark and......er....

A like for the first person to tell me to fuck off if i dont like it.

You make an interesting point. I know nothing of journalism so I assumed Samuel would write the lot. Maybe as you say he pens the piece but someone else writes that headline, someone who simply wants clicks to attract advertisers. If so that shows how far down the gutter the press have gone that even a Samuel article is not safe
Their headlines are eyeball grabbers and rarely bear more than a minute relationship to their articles.

I know everybody wants to believe that MS didnt have much say in that column but as the Chief Sports Writer you‘d think he’d have full control of what is written, even if he’s under pressure to get the clicks.

I think that would be the Chief Sports Editor, it's a familiar pattern as many Blues will recognise, even if they deny reading the articles themselves.

Not really relevant to the press remarks quoted, but appalling behavior nevertheless. However, if we tried to improve this with greater discipline in schools, for example, it would be vigorously opposed, not least by parents.
Worth noting that a small fund which was started on line to purchase a small treat for that child grew so big it became a large charity donation at the request of her parents.

I beg to differ on the relevancy as the point I was alluding to is that it is much more difficult to be objective when you're on the inside looking in. What you might think as great, others may not agree with, especially when it comes to nationalism. A number of those points you list could quite easily be challenged by others with a non English centric world view.

Blue Mist. Like you I rate Samuel. I read his article and this action would have given them another click.. so job done And I’m sorry. The main issue for me is the headline which Samuel may not have crafted. It could have been something like ‘England’s squad depth is deeper than it’s been for years’ or ‘Southgate's squad harmony gives England an edge’ or whatever. The point Samuel makes in the article about City and the Chavs is borderline fair but it is a supplementary point.

Sky and Talkshite are a disgrace though. Unfair, sensationalist crap to get a response or to keep viewers. It’s truly pathetic.
Just read it and the reference to City and Chelsea in the article is unnecessary and adds nothing to the article. Like having the price of fish in the article. There is simply no need to mention clubs at all.
I suspect that there has been editorial changes to attract clicks and so my opinion on Samuel as an individual remains favourable.
