PHE scientists said today the Delta variant which now accounts for 99% of cases may be 46% more likely to cause reinfection than the Alpha variant.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA - BEFORE ANYONE GETS TOO EXCITED

These lag the cases, of course. So not that surprising.

ADMISSIONS (2 days behind the other data remember)

783 Wednesday - first daily fall in a while from 805 Tuesday.

Up from 636 last Wednesday

REGIONS

NE & YORKSHIRE Easily the most with 215 up from 205 Tuesday and 183 last Wednesday.

Midlands second with 146 up from 140 Tuesday and 114 last Wednesday

London third with 126 up from 122 Tuesday and 86 last Wednesday

NORTH WEST was FOURTH from the 7 regions and the lowest of all the large ones on - 124 - down from 134 Tuesday but up from 110 last Wednesday

Still seems to be too much of an obsession with cases, there likely to rise and fall indefinitely as we’re pretty much open now.

Sure it would be ideal to see cases low but I don’t think it should be something obsessed over.

It needs to get to a point where daily case numbers and then deaths aren’t even revealed, for people’s sanity mostly.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA

PATIENTS

4401 patients - up 171 on yesterday V 3367 last Friday - a weekly rise of 1034.

Last Thursday the daily rise was 126 and the weekly rise had been 1015.

REGIONS v Change today from yesterday and V last week

EAST up 3 to 302 V 181

LONDON up 59 to 794 V 634

MIDLANDS up 43 to 858 V 634

NE & YORKSHIRE up 83 to 1026 V 732 - BIGGEST RISE HERE IN SOME TIME AND FIRST OVER 1000 IN MONTHS

SOUTH EAST DOWN 22 to 337 V 261 - SURPRISING FALL HERE

SOUTH WEST up 10 to 254 V 182

And NORTH WEST DOWN 5 to 830 V 794

As you can see North West week to week FELL and the other three big regions all drove the increase. Midlands now as well and NE & Yorkshire have more patients and London not far behind.

TOTAL UK PATIENTS: TODAY V LAST WEEK

England 4401 V 3367

N Ireland 163 V 129

Scotland 502 V 532

Wales 120 v 88

UK TOTAL 5186 UP FROM 4116 LAST WEEK

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA

VENTILATORS

625 - up 13 on yesterday V 512 last Friday - a weekly rise of 113

Last Friday the daily rise was 19 and the weekly rise had been 119

REGIONS v Change today from yesterday and V last week

EAST up 1 to 43 V 28

LONDON up 1 to 142 V 117

MIDLANDS down 2 to 113 V 106

NE & YORKSHIRE up 13 to 122 V 91

SOUTH EAST down 2 to 36 V 29

SOUTH WEST up 3 to 44 V 21

And NORTH WEST down 1 to 125 V 120

So NW is no longer by far the biggest driver of these numbers that inevitably translate into deaths a week or so later. It is still one of the highest regions but going in the opposite direction to pretty much all the rest,

TOTAL UK VENTILATED: TODAY V LAST WEEK

England 625 V 512

N Ireland 8 V 1

Scotland 57 V 48

Wales 24 V 9

UK TOTAL 714 UP FROM 570 LAST WEEK

Cases will rise and fall depending on the weather and big events that take place, ongoing.

I reckon there’ll be a drop in the next few weeks because people are out and about more due to the good weather, after the rise during the Euros. Then we’ll see it go up once the Prem starts up again and people are packing into public transport to get there, then another rise when the weather starts to get worse into the Autumn.
