Jack Grealish

I know what you mean, thats why i didnt include him in my fist post of players to sell. That said when i watch him i cant help but think at times that some of our up and coming players could do as well if given a chance in that roll. He certainly isnt an Aguero replacement or star striker.
Yeah if a decent bid comes in we would probably sell him, but he is as you said, nowhere near an Aguero replacement.

Well I seem to remember we did ok last season without Grealish and Kane
Even with no Aguero and an out of form Sterling

Too right we did.

Last season was a season where we had incredible success (PL Champions, League Cup Winners, Champs League finalists and FA Cup semi-finalists) and we did it by polishing the use of false 9’s.
It is absolutely conceivable that we could continue along that line of evolutionary development and gain even more success rather than going into reverse and installing a striker again.
Added to that, Torres has now had a season to settle into our systems of play and could be used to greater effect going forwards. In the few games he had at false 9 in the latter part of the season he was lethal and I’d like to see more of that.

I’m not saying that we won’t get a striker and, if so, it may of course prove hugely beneficial to us, but those shouting others down and saying that the only way forward is to revert to something we were doing in previous seasons (as being the only way of evolving our game) are truly blind to the fact that evolving our game can involve moving it in any number of directions and that backwards to what we did previously is not evolving but is reverting to a previous iteration.

Ahh so no explanation why exactly the same team and squad can't do equally as well ?

I'd bet good money that Gundogan isn't going to score 11 goals in 12 league games at the crucial point of the season again, for starters. In any normal team the responsibility of scoring goals falls with the forwards, not a guy who spent half the previous season at DM.

We finished 12 points off with Grealish out for more than a third of the season. We were on course around Christmas before he got injured. This is exactly what the club will be selling to Grealish - if we don't make it by 2023 then I'm sure he will go. It's sad that so many of you seem to have forgotten what it's like to have a proper connection with one of your players.
The last bit is total Bollocks

Majority of us would be gutted if Bernardo left as we feel he is one of our own

Zabaleta was the Argentine Manc likewise Kompany our adopted Manc and Silva well was Our Spanish Dave

Sérgio, Vinny and Silva statue being sculptured as we speak

Understand you are desperate to keep Grealish and we have been there with Shauny Wright but you sound like a Rag or a red dipper

We have had players choose to leave us

They return as ex blues and are cheered with only 3 exceptions I can recall barton which is more pantomine villian than dislike, distin, still not sure why and Milner because he's a dick

You lot boo anyone who leaves you and call them snakes.

You wouldn't know connection if you tried.

I bet good money Sterling has now found his form and Torres will slot in after finding his feet last season.
Phil will continue to improve and Jesus will score a bagfull now Sergio has gone.
Mahrez will have his best ever season and Kev will score 20 goals

Still not keen on this signing.

It's not that I don't like him. I think he's a great player. I just like Sterling, Foden and Mahrez more. I feel connected to Sterling after celebrating almost 150 of his goals, feel connected to Foden because he's our best local prospect ever and feel connected to Mahrez after he's scored so many great goals at crucial times. I'm sure I'd eventually grow to love Grealish but at the moment I'd much rather those three stay as our first three choices for the two wing spots.

I'll be much more keen on Grealish in a very specific circumstance:

a) Bernardo is in fact leaving and
b) Pep wants to play either Grealish or Foden in midfield permanently moving forward

but I don't think Bernardo will leave and I think hell will freeze over before Pep plays either Grealish or Foden as an 8.

Spot on. It's not a real connection if you turn on them the minute they dare want to play for anyone else, it's just arrogance.

Sterling probably has found his form but that's little use to us when he's watching Grealish and Mahrez from the bench. Same goes for Torres and Foden (but don't worry, I'm sure he'll score loads in the cup against Burton Albion before being inexplicably returned to the bench for every league game as he was in the back half of last season).

Sergio was for all intents and purposes 'gone' since March 2020 and that period was probably the shittiest form of Jesus' career so far.

Mahrez may well have his best ever season but that would still be some way short of the goals and assists a striker like Kane would provide.

De Bruyne hasn't come close to 20 goals in 9 of his 12 seasons. No reason to think he'd manage it this time especially when missing a couple of months with an injury is now sadly a yearly thing for him.
