Jack Grealish

Whats interesting from the Sam Lee article is that Pep sees Grealish in midfield next to KDB as a Gundogan competition, has he ever played midfield for Villa?

Villa used to use him as a number 10 I believe but shifted him wide to solidify their midfield when they got promoted (one of our resident Villa fans could probably explain better.)

Obviously there is a difference between being a CM in our side to being one in Villa’s team. Providing he ups his workrate to KDB/Bernie levels and cuts out any silly giveaways he could be perfect for the role.

True enough but then i remember the shit Sane got on this site.
Exactly. Still people mocking him throughout the season for having bad games and not being picked ect...

Always a minority of fans from clubs that will always stick the boot into a player when he decides to leave no matter what they player has done for them in the past.

I fins the Birmingham accent as annoying as it gets. Imagine him saying De Bruyne?

De Bdroooiyyynnnne!

READ this one. Even more fun. Damn these tears!

: This incarnation of Manchester City was formed in 2008. As much as MK dons is Wimbledon. It isn’t a real club. It’s hollow. Tell me what roots remained? 2 or 3 mascot players? They know that too. They comfort themselves with the thought that everyone is jealous. If only your club could be owned by a emirate state in an effort to legitimise a virtual dictatorship via soft power sports ownership. If only.

As a set of supporters they are desperately searching for an identity, a meaning, in this brave new era. Nothing organic, no set backs, no pain and redemption. Just a machine. A efficient machine but a machine nonetheless. Win. Sheikh smile. Win. Sheikh Smile. Win. Worst still, the leach fans begin to come out in force. Migrating from FCB, RM, United & Chelsea. Diluting what little remained of that community asset.

When I talk to Manchester City fans about post 2008 City, you see the little death behind their eyes. Emotionless, blank and rehearsed. Now I mention, Goater, Dickov, the Kippax, Joe Royle, Weaver at Wembley, the fire flickers again. Passion & meaning. How does that silver taste? Was it worth your soul?
No set backs? Did he see the CL final? Or the FA Cup Semi final (that I'm still annoyed about?). How about Lyon; Wigan (several times)? I wish things were as rosy as he seems to believe!

He is right than none of the team from before 2008 still play for us. That could be because they were shite, but it also could have been because it was 13 feckin years ago. I suspect there's only Hart and Schmeichel still playing professional football!

I love Goater, I loved Weaver at Wembley. I loved Kinkladze and Lake and Brightwell and others before that. My 70s badge on my Junior Blues scarf was Brian Kidd. It had lots of passion and meaning, but so did Aguero against QPR, so did Vinnie's thunderbastards against the rags and Leicester, so did Sterling's offside goal against Spuds. I wouldnt want to lose any of those memories or experiences, but if the question is would I like to go back to pre-2008, would I fuck*.

* If it is possible, can someone let me know, as I want to make sure I've got my chequebook to buy some Amazon shares and Bitcoin

A scouse fan on Twitter has just questioned if Grealish is even one of the best 20 wingers in the world and some of the names on it are hilarious. It's almost as if last season never happened and he hasn't been carrying Villa or the last 4 years mainly on his own.

Fake surely, I’m not having there is a literate scouser able to write their own tweets

Trolling? Wth you talking about?

:-) My mention of Stones and Sterling was in relation to signings made to go straight into first team contention.
Isn't that what most clubs that know their arse from a hole in the ground try to do?

I'd be surprised if Aston Villa purchased Targett, McGinn and Al-Ghazi from Soton, Celtic and Ajax, all clubs with a good reputation for finding/developing young talent, in their early twenties with the intention of them merely sitting in the stands.

Whilst the price tags may have been different than what City paid for Sterling and Stones, it is the same concept. They purchased young talented players for the club at a price deemed acceptable.

When the inevitable news is announced, I wonder if the Villa fans will storm Villa's head office like the Barcelona fans did when they found out Messi wanted to leave?

Yeah in the Championship most of the time and a lot during our first season back in the PL. Nowhere near as effective or influential in terms of goals and assists as he is when playing on the left but he's got a great engine and carries the ball really well before getting fouled somewhere around the 30 yard mark as per :)

I'd say at least 85% of the Villa fans I have on Twitter are confident that Grealish is staying. One of them is quite cocky about it so I said I've said we'll have a £1k wager on it which he has just doubled to £2k! None of our fans are mentally prepared for it and I can see there being about 33k fans at our first home game as a lot of them seem to be Jack Grealish FC not Villa fans anymore. I'll be glad when the saga is over, sick of the same thing every summer with him.
