Leicester (N) - Community Shield | Post-Match Thread

Or maybe he needs a pre season?
I think Pep needs to decide what he is and, if it is a striker, then he needs to be coached in how to play the role and get more involved in matches. He has produced some great finishes and showed flashes of what he can do so hopefully he can kick on.

That one mistake changes the whole narrative really. If it had gone to penalties (and we won) then we'd probably be lauding a decent performance where our second string restricted a strong Leicester side to very few chances.
Far too sensible , is there anyone who can ban you , the common sense police ?

No big deal, lots of positives from the 2nd half, the two young lads started showing why they’d earned Peps trust.

Leicester know they won’t face that team again, I think they’ll be more worried about what’s to come next time.
Yeah both grew into the game after a shaky/starstruck start.

Edozie is a bit different to what we have in the first team,id like him to stick around the squad while i think Palmer would benefit from a loan.

I don't think that Ake 'switched off', I think he signalled to Rodri to play the ball to someone else. As I saw it, Rodri played him into the shit, leaving him exposed.

you have to want the ball and be ready for anything when the ball is in and around the box
ake did not want the ball and that is the key in pep teams. pep himself was shouting at ake for playing it to slow in the 2nd half. mental fitness is more of a issue and lack of game time and it will get you in trouble

nobody can moan about it ? we lost and did not play or turn up
but you know what in 8 months time if we are a winning manchester city and maybe champions league winners
then who will care about today

Disgusting coverage of us by matterface and dixon, lost count of the sly digs about money, squad size, chances created, controlled the 2nd half but you wouldn't think so listening to them 2 biased twats

I lost count of the times Dixon said that Schmeichel hadn’t had a save to make, whilst neglecting to mention that Steffen hadn’t either.

Decent performance overall if you consider our line up, and in the end we were let down only by two things we’d all been fully aware of anyway…..namely that Ake’s always gonna have a gaffe in him (reminds me of Otamendi in as much as he can look completely unphased for 89 minutes, but then panics when confronted by a bit of pace and commits suicide) and that Torres just not have the presence to play as a line leading centre forward.

I thought we were by far the better side in the second half mate

Yeah agreed mate, on both points, would actually also like to see what Edozie’s like on the right in the future too, more of the traditional winger role.

Incidentally I have said since Ihaneacho left we need a striker.
we over relied on Sergio for far too many years. Yep it’s only a glorified friendly but we still want to win. Like others have said it reminded me of the CL Final, we just didn’t look like scoring and looked a bit iffy at the back.

Had lots of best players out, Leicester didn’t. Harsh pen but fair play Leicester were better in first half and should have been ahead. Comm shield an odd thing. Matters if you win doesn’t if you don’t. Was good to be there for Jack’s debut. Which if nothing else woke the subdued city fans up. Just seen MEN player ratings and wondering if I watched the same disjointed, error strewn, creative free game? Apart from ake and steffen no one really matched the occasion. Dias too maybe.

A good experience for the young lads, a good fitness session for the players and we move on. It is nowt more than a friendly and doesn't bother me in the slightest we lost. Gives us plenty to work on. Grealish looked very good when he came on. Already not getting those free kicks!

Thought the same.

Dinho is definitely showing his years, and we partly renewed his contract because Rodri isnt the genuine article - Ndidi showed him how to play DM today, and i dont think he would be good enough for us either.

It is a concern,as the EDS potential is only that at present.

Ahh, there it is. The first (possibly) of what will no doubt be many Dinho aged related comments this season.
