Climate Change is here and man made

Yes, very good doco on her on iPlayer.

She chose to stay away from protests/gatherings whilst COVID was really at its peak in order to help massive crowds from not gathering.
Very thoughtful of her , but just another in the crowd if she did unless she told her followers in advance.

hope she denounced the gathering as a potential super spreader event.

Might be wrong but I think she thinks her only chance of living to an old age is if she travels on Spacex and lives on the moon.

your doomed if you are not older than 40 in her world and she blames every government of every persuasion for her lot in life.

I think she will grow out of it and be a good domestic engineer one day.

have to do some homework for a friend but thanks for the advice much appreciated and only on here while the sql forms and partitions are updating.

BTW my wicked warped humour kicks in after 4.00am watch out.

You know what sort of people they are having a go at an autistic child for being concerned about the planet. Proper sad scumbags.
I think most people have a go at her parents and teachers for frightening the shit out of an autistic girl for no good reason.

Climate change is a problem but it isn't an existential problem and it's not even the biggest problem currently facing mankind.

Human ingenuity and innovation will provide the solutions; we'll be fine.

Close the thread and relax. I'm genuinely more worried about making a slow start in the Premier League.

Thats not accurate, most of the damage has come in the last 2-3 decades.

give over

CO2 emissions from coal fires is the worst so how can nearly 200 years of burning coal not damage the earth
the damage was done in them years and it took until the 1960s to find out and change was needed

climate-change is not really man made ? its just not helped
the earth is changing ? the climate change maybe is part of the earth cycle and movement and the unknown

should climate change really change the seasons we have ? i think the seasons are moving and its because of the earth movements around the sun and earth magnetic field

10 kilometres (6.2 mi) per year at the beginning of the 20th century, up to 40 kilometres (25 mi) per year in 2003
maybe this is move of the reasons of the changes and not climate change

I'd like to laugh, but banging my head against a brick wall seems more apt.

Human ingenuity and innovation in relation to climate change is currently being nullified by human greed, selfishness and population growth.

Ok mate, a simple graph should help you.

'
How have global emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) changed over time?

In this chart we see the growth of global emissions from the mid-18th century through to today.

We see that prior to the Industrial Revolution, emissions were very low. Growth in emissions was still relatively slow until the mid-20th century. In 1950 the world emitted 6 billion tonnes of CO2.

By 1990 this had almost quadrupled to 22 billion tonnes. Emissions have continued to grow rapidly; we now emit over 36 billion tonnes each year.'

Would you like a temperature graph to go alongisde that? Because it follows almost the exact same fucking pattern?

Fuck me right?

The IPCC AR6 report will contain a range of scenarios. The most unlikely outcomes, i.e. the ones that will almost certainly not occur will be picked up by the main stream media and that is the story. Look at today's front pages and tv and radio broadcasts and online output.

IPCC reports never factor in human innovation or the positive effects of moderate climate change or the fact that the world is becoming more prosperous and less dangerous wrt climate change.

Our energy, as a species is best served by focusing on human progress now; lifting people out of abject poverty now, not sacrificing ourselves on the group think that is the current climate change ideology.

Ridiculous.

Our energy is not best served by the 'here and now', we need to be looking to future generations and when I say future genrerations, it's literally people being born in our life time for fucks sake. How dense are you to not understand that as the worlds climate becomes more fucked, our ability to tackle poverty becomes even more difficult?

The worlds poorest are going to be hit first and the hardest. I will say that we need to meet the challenge head on right here and right now.

Just as an FYI both the IPCC and NAS are actually incredibly conservative in their estimates typically, the reality is probably a lot worse.

Human greed and selfishness are part of human nature. We've been behaviourly modern, i.e. exhibiting greed and selfishness and all our other good and bad characteristics for about 80,000 years. Hasn't stopped us moving from the Afrcan savannah to the amazing position we find ourselves in now.

Population growth is predicted to peak sometime this century and the story has now switched to the 'catastrophe' that is population decline. One of the main reasons we can now feed 7.8 billion people and will easily be OK with 10 billion is human innovation. Fixing nitrogen out of the air (Bosch Haber procesd) allows us to fertilise the soil when the doomsayers predicted we would starve.

This whole thing just reads like some sort of capitalist cock sucking play book lol.

The world's poor are best served by raising their living standards now not protecting the descendants of wealthy westerners.

Unfortunately that requires the use of energy which in your doomsday scenario will be the end of mankind. It's really bad news for you because 3 billion poor Africans and Asians aren't going to forego human progress so your great grand children can inherit the garden of Eden.

Fortunately your wrong. We can have it all. We just have to make better policy decisions. The world will become more prosperous and our innate ability to solve problems will ensure we don't all go to he'll in a hand cart.

I do not disagree that we are well served by raising the living standards of the worlds poorest, no doubt about that.

But you still seem to be living in some sort of fantastical dreamland where everything plays out perectly and we actually make 'good decisions'.

There are tough times ahead, I am optimistic - but to simply assume things are going to play out as you say is naive.

Capitalism has delivered the wonderful world we live in. Recent example is the vaccination success and the tablet/laptop/smartphone your typing on.

It differs from all other isms in that it wasn't thought up by some academic or philosopher or despot who decided 'this is how the world should be run'.

Capitalism is what happens when people are free to make their own choices in a liberal (that's truly liberal) environment supported by strong institutions and a respect for the rule of law.

Except Jism. Which is how the world is run.
Jizz and cash.
