You are right changing jobs is harder as you have to sell yourself to your new employer and are up against lots of other candidates. Footballers are always head hunted by their new employees. Big difference.
You seem to have confused difficulty in selling yourself in an interview to get a job with negotiating multi million pound contracts and including media , image and sponsorships.

Solicitors yes, agents no - contracts can be extremely complex
A solicitor may stop you getting ripped off, they won’t necessarily negotiate and find the best contracts for you, not just footballing but commercial deals too. Of course there are good and bad agents and some players need agents more than some others. KDB may well be able to renegotiate his own contract but if he wanted to move he’d most likely use an agent.

Well i have never needed an agent when i have changed jobs. Did you need one?

Peter Crouch talked on his podcast about signing his first pro contract as a youth player, I think at QPR.

He had an agent and the club manager told him and his dad, "we don't negotiate with agents. If you want to have an agent look elsewhere." So he and his dad agreed a contract of £800 a week.

Later, he found out that the same agent had negotiated pay of £4,000 a week for players at his level and the club dealt with him all the time. The manager laughed at Crouch for believing him that the club wouldn't deal with the agent.

Things worked out for Crouch but how many people don't make it? 3.2k a week difference over a 3 year contract is £115,200.

So yes, they absolutely do need agents. There are a lot of disreputable shitbags in football and it's not just agents.

well Crouch wasnt up to it then was he. didnt know his own worth.

Lots of people use a recruitment consultant to help them get a new job.
Not exactly the same but fairly similar.
They are an agent. They changed their job title to consultant to make themselves sound more important but they are in essence a recruitment agent

Yeah, that's why he and other footballers contract it out to an expert.

When you buy a house do you do the survey and the legal paperwork yourself? When you book a package holiday do you speak to the airline, airport parking, resort, airport transfers, bars and restaurants one by one, or do you just book the package?

Your opinion is so, so, so, SO stupid I'm gonna go ahead and assume you're wumming.

Wonder how the Tottenham press will sell things after the sale happens. I thought Villa would be a bit snide but to their credit they weren't. Maybe Tottenham will follow suit.

Changing jobs isn’t remotely the same thing.
1628883619631.jpegChanging jobs is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman. First you have to convince her that you have the experience to push all the right buttons. Then you have to negotiate the right package. After that you need to impress her for the first three months with your drive, stamina and a willingness to take risks. Then you can slip into a comfortable routine.

To be fair I do do those things myself. Your point is right though.
