Harry Kane

Lewandowski move rumours still very quiet, and given that both Chelsea and the scouse hoard are looking useful, it will be a hard fought premiership this year so we could really do with an up front option whoever it may be, and still a difficult one to call what the club has up its sleeve with 10 days to go....maybe something we are not expecting at all, just a waiting and guessing game

All those players I have listed can do a job up top. I can imagine playing with 3 ultra quick attacking players rotating positions during the game. Or 1 big lump with glass ankles. I know where I’d put my money if it meant getting rinsed by Mr Levy.
Regardless of what happens with Kane we cannot afford to go another season with players 'doing a job' up top.

He didn't turn up to training, and hasn't said anything publicly besides trying to damage control the no-show. And then came on as a sub this afternoon.

Ndombele wants to leave Spurs and he isn't even in their squad.
so he didn't backtrack???? how is any of this backtracking? enough with the obvious flapping

Yeah but kane isn't particularly mobile and let's the midfield do most of the work. I'd say Ronaldo would be fitter than Kane even at 36. He keeps himself in decent shape and in our team he wouldn't need to play every minute.

If Kane isn't happening then would we just not do a deal like this ?
Because pep doesnt like him , would never manage him.

Surely if he was definitely staying, he would say something publicly?

There's a precedent with Tottenham for these things to happen very late in the window.

Obviously the fact the deadline is becoming increasingly closer has made a lot of people increasingly nervous.
Delaps going on loan. Kompany is after him
Surely he won’t go on loan if we don’t buy a striker as that would be ridiculous.

The public statement was the backtrack. He obviously still wants out but isn't prepared to force it in the way it looked he initially was.

Spurs/Levy managed to turn the public narrative, or his daft agent brother, and now there's been a change of tact. That doesn't help us secure him.

Why wouldnt pep like him hes a very hard worker? Im not saying we should sign ronaldo but as a stop gap its not a bad idea. He'd probably score us a shed load of goals in the champions league.

I'm sure we would all agree that out succession strategy has been abysmal really - we were lucky with Silva as we had Phil but how long did it take us to find an able replacement for Vinny when we knew his injury track record and the fact he was on his last legs? Unfortunately it seems to be groundhog day when it comes to planning efficiently for our players leaving, we're in the same situation with Aguero and I have no doubt we will be in the same situation with Fern, Walker and KDB.

I really don't have an issue with us paying a sum that suits both parties but if we are on the fence about the fee replacing our record goal scorer with who will probably be the record goal scorer domestically then I don't see that as unfortunate, I see that as a failure at board level to get the right personnel in when we need it and doing so in preparation of key players leaving.

The whole situation screams of ineptitude, its almost as if we had a single name to replace Aguero and then we're unhappy that Spurs aren't selling him to us. The board knew Aguero wasn't getting a contract extension and at that exact moment, there should have been a list of able replacements drawn up and the relevant staff members should have been able to analyse which 3 or 4 would be the best fit and available at a price that both clubs and our budget and then go out and negotiate. Instead, we have pursued a single striker who has years left on his contract, is employed by a renowned tough negotiator while we've watched Messi and Lukaku move and claimed we're not interested.

I will be delighted if we get Kane but it shouldn't be downplayed how horrendous our strategy has been for years.

Calling the club out when we don’t know really what’s going on regarding Kane after how we have been run and trophies we win plus we keep winning it something I won’t do! Some fans think we can just go for a player and get him! Well it ain’t the easy! Time still to get Kane and I still believe we will..

the public statement wasn't a backtrack, you're just imagining scenarios in your head. it's been well documented that the whole training shit was a misunderstanding between him and spurs, who apparently told him he can stay for another week but then told the media he was missing training to make him an enemy for the fans.

His image for the fans is very important to him, so he hired a PR firm to help him repair relationships with them, but he still wants out. Just because he didn't stop showing up to training, which is a disrespectful act in its own, doesn't mean that he fucking backtracked.
