Well I for one felt our days of players and particularly management being typically, City of yesteryear were over.

I know TH has indicated in previous posts that our CFG execs are mainly not football supporters (let alone support City) so maybe you are right.

Kane doesn’t have much of a choice.

The 2 main problems are his age and options.
He won’t go abroad so only leaves City or United as viable options.

Chelsea - lukaku
Arsenal - no chance
Liverpool- Jota, Salah, Firmino, mane
United- Rashford, Greenwood, cavani,martial

City- vacant position.

He has no choice.
 
This transfer has been extremely frustrating, I wonder if we are frustrated how Txiki and Omar are feeling.

Khaldoon, put an aggressive marker down before the window. I believe he is a smart man with great acumen. He wouldn’t have been that bullish with out knowing the extent to which we can spend on Kane.

Part of me thinks he won’t be wanting to be seen as the one ‘who lost out’, and will get this across the line.
But also, he has been known to walk away when figures get unrealistic, aka Sanchez deal…

I am nervous, and really concerned we will end up with out a striker and having put all our eggs in the Kane basket, knowing how Levy is, Kane having 3 years on existing deal with Spurs had no Plan B.

when I look at Chelsea’s business it just seems to go smoother, when ever they do deals in general bang take the cash, player presented and off he goes playing.

I have a feeling we will get this done eventually, squeeky bum time come
Deadline day, we haven’t been involved on deadline day for years…. So will be a change for us….

ps: Really stupid of Levy not to take the cash and use the window to build the squad like Villa. What a numpty!!

this. we are good but not faultless. not just the exec but the recruitment team themselves, we've had plenty of duds. we've had transfers that could and should have been handled far better. i still don't see the logic in loudly pursuing one striker option without preparing a plan B AND keeping it till late in the window. people argue that if they've done that, clearly there was a reason behind it, but that strikes me as circular logic. what if it's just a bad decision?

If only today they've agreed new terms with Kane then surely City would still be confident of a deal getting struck. We've had that other "ITK" guy saying the deal is straight up off and a general sense it isn't happening. So this agreeing with Kanes camp today would all be pointless.

Dzeko was a much better substitute. He managed 13 league goals as a sub in 56 sub appearances compared to Gabby's 5 in 53.

Chelsea would have gone for him if he and any interest in going there. Same goes for United.
In fact same goes for Aston Villa and Everton.
"He won't go abroad" That's his choice.
He could stay at Spurs if he wanted.

"He has no choice" of course he did. It's just he's already made his decision.
 
It feels uncharacteristically amateurish of us to put all our eggs in one basket which gives me confidence it’ll get done. We’re leaving it late, though, and especially with a known bellend in Levy.

Yeah, I don't doubt that Kane wants the move. His interview with Neville was one of the most blatant examples of a ''come and get me'' please as I've seen. But fundamentally that counts for nothing if City don't offer a fee that is acceptable for Spurs.

I suspect this will get done, but it's difficult to know what the Spurs angle is on this. If they genuinely plan to try and replace him, you would expect them to want to approach it the way Villa did and get those players in first. Or if Levy has no intention of reinvesting that money, maybe it suits him to drag it out until deadline day so he can claim there was a lack of time to secure a replacement. At least we're nearing the end of the window so we'll know one way or another soon. Been a long saga this one!

You couldn't get more different styles of a striker with these three.
Gabbys stats, him being at the youngest age starting his career with us, are pretty impressive.
He could be a revelation out wide if him and walker do what they did on Saturday week in week out.
