Harry Kane

Yeah. I agree but seriously I’m not in favour of just signing a striker for the sake of it. On one hand we have fans complaining because we don’t give our academy players a chance & when we might have to (rather than buy second or third choice striker) they complain that we’re going to fail if we rely on youngsters instead of buying a striker (but they don’t say who!)
Fair comment. Unfortunately, it’s not the right time for Delap to become a regular and no way will Pep risk it. He needs blooding for another year or two, with some decent PL exposure in the meantime, before really coming into the reckoning (or not). Let’s hope he gets that exposure.

On my part it speaks to absolutely nothing other than I've been on holiday for the last two weeks and tried to disconnect as much as possible from the internet.

However its also fair to say I've had fuck all to say really. This has been the weirdest transfer we've been involved in since the Kaka one IMO. I'm not sure it'll end the same way but I'm absolutely nowhere near as confident as I was a month ago about it.

This has become a very binary window in general. If they land Kane it'll be tremendous. If they don't it'll be absolutely appalling. There's no in-betweens left.

We are a pretty placid fan base there was no real kick off about the Super League like with the dickheads on the pitch at OT, never any fan action about price increases like the walk outs at Anfield.

I reckon if it was Arsenal, Chelsea, Barca, Madrid, United or Liverpool etc you’d be seeing protests/banners about the lack of a striker and potentially none coming in asking for Txiki, Berrada or Soriano to go.

But the fanbase are generally happy, their positions are completely secure so they don’t really face any major backlash if they don’t get Kane and we go again with no striker.

Just imo a wasted season of Pep and top, top quality players at their peak.

Aside from the added pressure, it's beneficial to have options and alternative styles in tight matches and/or when we are behind.

The lack of an effective number 9 will put us under huge pressure not to concede first. If we need a goal late on we’re usually facing a deep block so we cross. The lack of an effective forward, not necessarily a big target man, means we don’t have players getting across defenders or attacking the 6 yard box so crosses usually go begging.

We don’t have to look far, even against Spurs KDB in his cameo out in a couple of balls that should have been converted.

We were on an excellent run last year but it was a season won by the lowest points total in years. Which meant we had room for error. We won’t have that this year. I cannot see how we finish ahead of a Chelsea side that has been hugely improved without the addition a forward.

Can't really see laporte going anywhere this summer but bernie looks like going.
We'll only see the real value in Silva "if" he leaves. We were doing great mid-season whilst KDB was injured. Just imagine being shifted to the subs bench when in great form to make way for KDB who wasn't match fit?

Pep made a big fuck up for that Derby day match, & that seemed to make up Silva's mind that regardless of form, he was always gonna play second fiddle to KDB & Gundog. Silva is better than that & should never have been treated as a second string backup player.

My hope is that neither Silva nor Laporte get a move, & this season sees them more involved & more settled & that they sign extensions to stay. If Silva's issue really is about location, then there's fuck all we can do about it, but personally I suspect his issues are more about his role in the squad, not just playing time. Being dropped to the bench for our biggest games when you're in form must be gutting for the guy....
