Harry Kane

Anyone else find it strange that when we first started talking about kane coming spurs was linked to loads of players

Then it went quiet again

Now we supposedly bid again and there getting linked with loads again adama /aouour / mckennie etc
Took them months to get a manager. They are fckin useless.

Been trying to recruit players for all this time and can't get anyone in which is why they can't sell Kane.

I agree but it went quiet on transfers but now we have bid again (supposedly) there looking at players again hoping it means something haha just want something exciting to happen to watch the reaction on here

Every crunch game, every derby, walking out at anfield, playing chelski, later stages of CL, that extra £15m (reportedly) isn't going to seem that big.
Not to you
But your not putting your £15m on it
Easy spending other people’s money isn’t it

Regarding Grealish, some will think he improves our starting 11 and that's fine. Personally, I don't think he's a better option than what we currently have, he doesn't bring qualities that the squad lacks or plays in a position we are light or weak in he's just another body in an area we are well stacked in in my eyes. That's not knocking Grealish by the way, more a compliment to the talent we already have in the squad and that's why I don't see the Grealish signing as improving our squad.

Last season, everybody commented on our need for a striker, many said we need a new DM, some would say left back, others would say we lacked pace upfront, all credible comments but nobody was wishing we had another wide left player in the squad. Id liken it to if we had gone and bought another right back this summer, could be an excellent player but just not neccesary.

Varane and Sancho are huge improvements when you see they're replacing lindeloff and James(?) genuinely no idea who they even played on the right, everything went down their left. can ask legitimate questions about them but I don't think there's any doubt they strengthen united unfortunately.

I think you're grossly undervaluing lukaku, Chelsea signing him is huge. I've said before he improves Chelsea more than Kane would improve us. Chelsea's biggest weakness was upfront, they've just signed a perfect fit who is at the very top of his game, he will be an animal for them.
Personally, I wasn't crying out for a striker and I am easy either way.
We don't yet know how Verane or Sancho will perform in the PL.
Lukaku - we will see. He is better than what they had but why do you think he is more of an improvement than Kane if you also think our need for a striker is huge?

But what is that number ? According to this morning’s Telegraph Levy wouldnt even accept £150m which, apparently, we are unwilling to pay. Sounds like we are at an impasse. Time to move on IMO.
Which points us back towards Rule of Life #1. 'Thou shalt not believe a single fucking word in the papers'

Think he's shown great resilience to come back so well "half the striker" just shows anyone can spin this anyway they want.
I can't tell if you're deliberately bringing up a year old comment or not.

If you are, he came back better than I thought he would so far, to be fair to him, but I was correct about him losing his pace completely.

Still think it's an incredibly reckless thing to do, spending £160m+ on a 28 year old with a history of big injuries, but I'm not in charge and it's not my money. I was more stringently against it when Haaland was on the market, but that ship has sailed for this year anyway.

And I think we'll look at Haaland in 3 years time and be devastated he's scoring a goal a game for a decade wearing someone else's shirt.

But if Pep demands him, the club will get him, and for 2 years while Pep's here it'll probably be a good deal, until we're spending £200m on a new striker in 2024/25.

Have you looked in to kanes injuries properly? (Not a dig just a question)

I thought the same till I actually looked at it

Over like the last 4/5 season hes averaged 30 games a season

I think the thing that dosent help kane is that as soon as he can walk.again spurs play him.for 90 mins and hes so mismanaged when is comes to injuries

I get where you're coming from, but I remember a lot of people complaining about Sterling last season and saying Grealish (among others) would make us much stronger on the left side

I suppose Van Persie would have been a luxury player in the summer of 2012, given that we had Agüero, Tevez, Džeko and Balotelli at the club, but a lot of people still claim that not signing him handed the title to the Rags
The thing is most people suggesting that we're doing so assuming we would move sterling on and replace him not add another player to compete for the same place.

I honestly can't remember who we had or what their form was around the time van persie left arsenal but he was undoubtedly the best striker in the league and was available for peanuts, two very different situations.

Personally, I wasn't crying out for a striker and I am easy either way.

You're right we don't, but that's true for any signing. Given their past performances though, it's very difficult to claim they haven't significantly improved. They would both need to be an absolute catastrophe for them not to improve them.

I do think we desperately need a striker I just think Lukaku fits Chelsea's approach and what they are missing better than how Kane would potentially fit in here.

Many tragic ones

Barney Daniels Gerald Creeney, Robert Taylor, Lee Bradbury, etc etc
Reminds me of the paul stewart saga when every summer we were going to buy him back from tottingham, he ended up at the red scouse, using that calc I have stuck a fiver e/w on kane to sign for the red scouse who miraculously have the money left over from the sale of ian rush
