Isn't there an issue here with us being unable to pick a substitute keeper? Or can the match carry on regardless?
We can can't we? It'll have to be one of the kids though, Slicker or some suchIsn't there an issue here with us being unable to pick a substitute keeper? Or can the match carry on regardless?
Well there is the Trump/Bolsonaro link and the whole S american football governance has been a shambles for years.2 Things here.
FIFA make all there money from internationals and FIFA are the top body so they can enforce this rule via UEFA - via the FA if they want to push it.
Brazil are a political horror show right now. I suspect the same snide conspiracy/anti mask BS that is gripping America is involved somewhere here. Nothing to back that up but it's the kind of BS they would pull
I'm afraid not. From what I believe, national associations have first call on players. The fact that clubs pay their wages and look after their every need doesn't matter. If, for example, Martinez wants KDB for a game, he gets him. And if we claim he's injured and unavailable, the Belgian FA can insist that their medical team examine him. In this situation, however, I thought that FIFA (or UEFA; two cheeks of the same arse) had said that clubs were allowed to withhold players if they were going to be travelling to a red list country?Surely the clubs hold the cards here? They're our players. We spent tens of millions on them, we pay their wages, we look after their every need. If we don't want to put them at risk then surely that is our right?
Especially not wanting to send them to a country that has let Covid run riot and seemingly don't care about the lives of their own citizens. If FIFA uphold this it would be beyond a joke and I would say legal action should be looked into.
I don't get that Jim... Although it's quite rare, as I understand it, players have the right to decline to ever play for their national team if they don't want to. As far as I know, they're not actually contracted to the national association. I'm prepared to be educated to the contrary!I'm afraid not. I'm not sure what the situation is if the player refuses to hook up with his national team. I was thinking of the association calling him up, and the club refusing to release him.I don't get that Jim... Your comment suggests that a national association has some sort of hold on players regardless of club contracts.

No he played in the olympics so hes exemptSo how does Richarlison get away scott free....... oh a good relationship with the Brazilian FA.
Erm, so that's ok then..........................................
I’ve got my zebra keks on order. Hoping they’re here before the weekendNot sure if it's been suggested but maybe us fans should invade the ground and get the game called off. United got away without any punishment for that last season so surely we would too
Not!
Maybe a club world cup every summer for every runner up too?Absolutely.
Hmmm FIFA being ridiculous….It’s like proposing a World Cup every 2 years instead of 4 years they would have to out of their minds…Or a Winter WC in a boiling hot country which nobody will go to mid season.
Wait a minute….. ;-)
Well they could easily do World Cup 2 for the teams that can't qualify for the proper one (Scotland and the like). And if you win it, you automatically qualify for the next World Cup, kinda like the Europa League. Maybe you could even have teams that get knocked out in the group stages of the World Cup dropping into World Cup 2. And then you could have the classic sight of formerly top teams winning it and desperately trying to convince themselves that it's an important trophy even though they're only in it because they were too shit for the proper competition.Maybe a club world cup every summer for every runner up too?
This Fifa malarky is a piece of piss
Bloody hell... I'd best keep my boots ready just in case.![]()
Can football players ignore a summons for the national team?
Rinsey Kong's answer: Yes. But they can be punished by Fifa. If the player plainly refuse or don't come without his federation approval, explicit or not, the federation can ask Fifa to fine the player and worst, suspend him. Example, Matip refused to play for Cameroon against the federation wil...qr.ae
Only cos they decided to make him exemptNo he played in the olympics so hes exempt
