Very easy on the eye when in possession but his defensive work will need to improve. Heaven help the rest of the midfield if we play Grealish, de Bruyne, and Mahrez from the off. They make Sane look like a navvy.
I'm glad somebody else picked up on this-he tracks back like Yaya-must work harder out of possession.

You thought he was the best player on the pitch today ? Examples please
I just like the way he plays the game, on the front foot all the time not scared of attacking his man. Today would probably be more a case of best of the bad bunch but it’s not scientific, just my opinion.

exactly what I was going to say
why would they spend that much on him while you have Foden and spend another year without a number 9 is beyond me.
I love him and thought he has been our best player today, he's so refreshing and adds to our game

But it's actually a game like this where I wonder, if we didn't get him but did get a striker or a DM this summer, we'd have a better chance at winning today. The drop-off in quality between grealish and, let's say, foden who would have been his replacement today, is smaller than the drop-off in quality between a WC striker and sterling today or a brilliant DM and ferna today.

He will win us points, so I am for one second not regretting his purchase, he's absolutely magnificent. Just a thought about transfer prioritization.
Pep only wanted Kane. Levy was never selling unless if it was an astronmoical fee that we would never have met in any window, in any context - even if it was techinically "affordable". I do not know why this is still so difficult for people to wrap their heads around.

Needs to learn how to press, he kinda runs in their direction but stops too short to affect the oposition who has the ball
defensively we are worse on his side of the pitch than we have been for years and Mendy isnt even there!...Grealish needs to work at this as he is leaving us exposed

He’s got absolutely no pace at all so will be easy to bypass if he pressed. He looks a poor player defensively and we defend from the front.

The guy is quality. Can't believe some people sagging him off. He's a danger to any defense when he has the ball. And he doesn't give the ball away unlike some of his teammates. He will be one hell of a player for us.

Nobody is slagging him off. The difference between observations and slagging off is lost on half this forum.

My observations of him so far are:

He’s very good with the ball at his feet
First touch is first class
Keeps hold of the ball very well
Can beat a man with good skill.

He holds onto the ball too long at times and needs to learn how to speed up his thought process and passing
His end product is often lacking, final cross or shot is mostly of poor quality
He’s very slow
Defensively looks poor.

So far, a good start to the club but we needed a match winner yesterday and he wasn’t it (granted, neither was anyone else!). The good signs though are that he’s settled in much quicker than some others who’ve come to us, and he’s improving on things he’s not that good at.

Fair comment. Regarding the defensive side he will improve. Pep won't put up with any slackers.

slagging him off for not pressing properly lol

Bernardo pressesd but was the worst player on the pitch . But gets a free pass , cos he’s presses. Everything that’s up with the modern game.

It’s not just that, our midfield was a fucking disgrace yesterday and I don’t say that lightly. Gundo and Fernandinho have got to be one of the worst pairings in the league. Individually brilliant but together? Nah.
Grealish shouldn’t have to run his bollocks off every game, we should be smarter and let him conserve a bit of energy to do what he does best. I accept it’s a part of the game Pep expects his forwards to do but it’d help if the ones behind him didn’t both play like the statues we proudly have at the entrance.
