Can't they only spend the money they earn like everyone else? Their standing and trophy Winning history is even worse than ours on takeover so top players will need some convincing to sign
That'd be an upgrade on Mike Ashley who's basically refused to spend anything for years. But yeah, I'd expect them to be more like Everton in terms of spending in the short term. Having said that, we don't even know if these new owners are anything like ours or Chelsea's in terms of ambition. There's just an assumption that because they're Saudi, they'll be chucking money at the club. But yeah, I don't think anyone can do what us or Chelsea did anymore with the new FFP rules in place.

I wonder whether they can get players from their direct competitions, as City had done by getting some of the best of Everton, Aston Villa and Arsenal. It will jump-start their rise. Leicester, Everton, Arsenal and West Ham of the present days are not shy of spending money themselves.

Can see a project like thst appealing to some players. It’s a beautiful part of the world if you’ve got serious money, especially in Northumberland.
Northumberland is amazing and appeals to me - but I'm middle aged and like pubs and walking my dog. Not sure if it will appeal to multimillionaire young footballers. Newcastle is a good night out but it's a goldfish bowl. Manchester is a hard enough sell to top players, I think Newcastle will be 10x harder.

If there’s a Saudi consulate in Newcastle and he gets an invitation, I fear the worst. :-o
That was the strangest assassination attempt. They must have known that the Turkish folks had bugged every single room in the building, including the torture chambers. To imagine that the torture and the killing were being listened to in real time in Turkey and in other interested countries is both chilling and comedic.

The Premier League seems to have changed its rules on FFP.

You can read the rules here PL handbook. They call the rules PSR which I think stands for profit and sustainability rules. They used to have rules on wages, revenue and expenses. Now it seems to be based on profit/loss over 3 seasons. e.g., you can not lose more than £105m over 3 seasons. There is some historical allowance for Covid costs according to the press.

The financial rules are not that lengthy.

Brilliant news for the geordies, the North East in general, for the league as a whole and for us as the new money crowd - but bad news for yank owners. I for one will be fascinated to watch this club who used to be everyone's second favourite team become public enemy number 1. Can't wait to watch that muppets true geordie try and square this one morally after all this nonsense hrs spouted about us!

If it was 15 years ago I would have wished them well and 'supported' them against the red shirts just like the mid 90's when they were contenders and being bank-rolled by Sir John Hall........ however so much bitterness from them regarding our luck with owners that I'm happy to keep them where they are
This isn’t about Newcastle for me. This is about United and Liverpool, and the Premier League just bending over for them with whatever they want.

This has to be defeated, for the good of the game. Newcastle just happen to be part of it.

Whoever they sign up front will be built up by the media as being the next Shearer and then soon enough thrashed for not being the next Shearer. The media are cunts.

Good luck to them I say the more clubs to upset the scum scousers and spurs yank owners the better!

Be interesting in all the new sponsors they get and who they’ll be because to compete with ffp you need plenty of sponsors or like us one season losing was it 197m they’ll be losing that for every year plus you need a lot of luck to get top four get the right manager the right players in and we all know money helps but it doesn’t guarantee too four or trophies!

Throw enough money at it and it kind of guarantees trophies. It doesn't guarantee dominance of course because there are other clubs with lots of money of their own and who are already established. It will definitely be a lot harder for Newcastle than it was for Chelsea and City, but they'll be in and amongst the top of the league within 5 years I think, if the Saudis spend like Abramovich and Sh Mansoor did.

The entitled lot are clamoring for the super league. They are fickle and funny.

You’re probably right, upon reflection.
