The Conservative Party

No consensus on the front pages this morning, but more businesses complaining about energy prices and the lack of Government assistance. Would expect individual MPs to start coming under increased pressure in the coming days, and then it becomes much harder for the Government to stay out of it.
All this. EU governments are already assisting their industries and their energy prices are much lower than ours. I can't think why EU prices are much lower than ours.

One reason is that the U.K. has less capacity to store energy, I believe, but save government assistance there will surely be others.

If the Government doesn’t step in, then businesses will have to push the costs on to their customers; it’s hard to see how they can carry the costs themselves at the same time as they pay for the modernisation of their industries and equip their employees with new skills. It’s certainly a fascinating act of brinkmanship, because the moment the Government blinks and supports one area, it’s going be accused of abandoning its principles and of selling out those industries that it has refused to help.

Bridgen begging the Govt he has propped up to help over energy supply costs on the news............can't they just burn unicorns and harvest solar on the sunlit uplands?????

Looks like the government’s answer to the labour shortage is to let more and more industries go to the wall which will have the combined effect of reducing the requirement for additional workers from abroad and increasing the number of UK workers looking for jobs once they get made redundant from their current jobs.
Don’t remember that plan in their manifesto.

Just seen Sunak justifying tax rises. Fair enough I except we have to pay taxes no problem with that whatsoever, I have no problem with paying my fair share to provide the services we all need, sure it was a tough pill to swallow after the year we have had to here him announce back in March to here that our little company was going to see its corporation tax rise from 19% to 25% in the next few years.

But what was a tougher pill to swallow was hearing Sunack announce 10 weeks later that large international companies that makes hundreds of millions or billions of pounds in profit would only have to pay 15% corporation tax.

Hey Sunack why will we have to pay 10% more?

Why do Journalists never ask the tough questions ?

Just Tories being Tories (If you actually thought they were on your side then you really are stupid)

It’s a simple plan, let the big sharks eat the little fish which creates less jobs as many are merged.

Kwarteng on Marr at the moment - thick as fucking mince
Might be the only mince you see. Evidently no HGV drivers coming from outside the U.K. and presumably the same is true for the required poultry workers. He would surely have been briefed to give a number if that situation were positive, but instead he said that issue was one for DEFRA, so I suspect that’s a no, too. Delia has a lovely nut roast recipe for Christmas…

It would seem the Treasury agrees.

‘Shortly after Kwasi Kwarteng says he’s engaging with Treasury over ways they can help industry, a Treasury source said:

“This is not the first time the BEIS secretary has made things up in interviews. To be crystal clear the treasury are not involved in any talks” @sky

All good stuff. The cervix issue shouldn't have been an issue discussed at conference, I've said before that trans issues shouldn't be part of electoral politics and it only feeds these invented culture wars.

But the blame falls at foot of the instigator and for causing a distraction and bringing the party into disrepute she should have the whip withdrawn. Not because she has those views but because of the way she has shared them.

Although of course she won't because it will drag the issue on, but she certainly deserves to receive that punishment.
