Sports-washing is a ridiculous term due to the bad publicity you get after buying a football club. If anything it’s the opposite as all of a sudden everything is scrutinised.
It all depends on which club it is. It appears that some clubs can do what they want with impunity and without challenge whilst other clubs are scrutinised to the nth degree.

It will take the barcodes 10 years to get to our level then we’d have moved on another 5, they may win an odd league cup to keep their fuckwit fans happy but nothing to worry us about

You can't seriously believe that the Saudis think buying Newcastle will mask crackdowns on dissidents? I have a degree of sympathy with the anti-"Saudi in football" group in here but you really don't help yourself with that sort of rhetoric.

Really? Generate enough white noise and the political consequences on the international stage will be reduced.

Nobody said anything about the Saudi Prince at Sheffield United, because he owns the club as a private individual and isn't a major player in the government.

It’s not an anti-Saudi position, it's anti-Saudi regime.

“Sport washing” doesn’t work it’s achieves the opposite and if you think otherwise you must be part of the “what’s app group “

Maybe because you like a bit of sportswashing yourself.

Off on ignore you go.

You see? You are doing it again ....

No-one in any government is going to say they can't punish the Saudis (and for clarity I mean the Saudi regime, not random Saudis) for their behaviour because they own Newcastle. My point is that they are already saying it because of the billions of dollars they will lose in export sales or inward investment. They have no need of Newcastle for that.

And as for your Barney Ronay article, just why? A sports journalist with, I imagine limited foreign policy experience, pontificating on a foreign policy issue as if it's an offside decision and criticising City fans for pontificating on a foreign policy issue as if it's an offside decision while doing it.

Anyway, it's match day. Enjoy the game :)

You're making the assumption that I was only talking about (US and UK) governments, I wasn't, I've already linked you an article earlier in the discussion that referred to a loss of deals in the world of art and culture.

The article was posted to someone being impolite who hasn't really added much interesting to the debate. If he wants to be rude and make unfair accusations then i'll draw conclusions why.

In English please
I never defended it I was pointing out that it wasn’t working in fact just the opposite
Posting a link to an opinion of a well know anti-City journalist as well Good grief

They seriously have to pick some points up now before the window opens ..........I mean whose gonna want to go to a club that maybe well adrift of safety ..........c

I actually think they’ll go down, which will set them back and push back the times when they’ll challenge at the top.

its very good for us if they stay away for a bit longer.

If Toon go down, they will be outside the clutches of the Premier League, they can then spend what they want safe in the knowledge the EFL won‘t be able to touch them if they stay in the Premier League. UEFA also won’t be able to touch them until they qualify for Europe and then the clock starts, a bit like the bin dippers when they breached FFP but got away with it, as per usual.

If they go down and over spend they can be fined not sure about docked points though.

If Leicester ever go down i believe they will start on a points deduction

Aren’t the EFL financial rules far stricter than the PL rules?

These would be considered gone already if not for the fact of the takeover.
