That wasn't my recollection. If anything, he started off well at Arsenal then things tailed off.

Edit: Just checked. He lost to us and Chelsea in his first 2 games in charge, but then they won 11 games in a row and went on a 22 match unbeaten run

Think he was like a bump in the road without looking into his record game by game which I can't be arsed doing ;) started awful, did reasonably well then when he was found out turned to rat shit.

Depends if he can get in some players in Jan. Their team as it is is poor and he'll have a job to recuse them without improvements.
 
It’s a good fit seeing there in a relegation battle! Has emery been in a relegation battle? Premier league is a tough tough league and draws ain’t going to get them out of trouble they need 10 wins!
 
Jokes aside Unai is a good manager, he worked miracles at Villareal, turned them into an Europa League winner when nobody was expecting it, got them into the CL groups. Great option for the transition period.
 
Can't for the life of me see how they've managed to entice a manager as high profile as Emery. Could be money related.
 
I think he will prove to be an excellent manager for them in the short to medium term, give them some stability and a way of playing.

While i don't think he is an elite manager he is still very good.

Emery is a Rafa Benitez clone, but with slightly more attacking play. Gets the best out of mediocre teams using team tactics and ethics.

Not sure who you expect Newcastle to get as their next manager. Who would you go for?
