Is Grealish a better fit? He's more of the same. He can't do anything Phil, Bernardo, Gundogan, KDB or Mahrez can't do.

What this team is missing is an in-form Sterling, someone who can get on the end of all the attacks our possession makes and score the goals.

We're not as good an attacking side as were were 2 or 3 years ago and IMO the main reason for that is Pep replacing goalscorers like Sané and Sterling with creative players shoved out wide in Mahrez and Grealish. We keep buying players who don't score goals regularly and then act confused when the team full of them doesn't score regularly.

I'm pretty sure we'll still not be as good when we eventually get Haaland or Kane, because we'll be in the situation of getting 80% of our goals from one player and all it will take is a good defensive coach or the striker to have a bad day and we'll be back talking about not taking chances again.

So I don't think Grealish is a better fit for this side unless you think the idea of a football side is to have 4 or 5 players with all the same strengths and weaknesses. Forget Sterling for a moment, I think any goalscoring winger would have been a better signing.

But presumably they thought Bernardo was going, and that's why they bought another attacking midfielder who can play wide but is better in the middle.
The short answer to that is I don’t disagree with anything you’ve just said.
Im making my judgements on the back of what I’ve seen over the last couple of seasons and our transition from the football you mention to where we are now.
My point was I think Grealish fits that better than Sterling. I don’t necessarily agree with how we got here but that’s where we are now.
Pep has decided to go in a certain direction which includes having those 4-5 very similar players so that’s why I’m where I’m at.

Yeah, you'd think that was obvious at this moment in time but whilst posters try and use stats to try and convince others that Jack hasn't been a success, just watching him play is more than enough to convince me. Not a resounding one so far, granted, but then if you're willing to look a bit further than the nose on your face it's easy to see why we bought him.
He offers far more control, rarely loses possession in the areas that Sterling does, thus negating the counter attack we often find ourselves defending when Sterling has run into another blind alley.
The rest will come once he's settled in but there's a section of our fanbase who will always judge him on a ridiculous price tag and nothing else.

I wont judge him on his price tag.

I will on his contribution. That will include goals ,assists, work rate, team and club ethic, professionalism and more.

Just as i judge Sterling and the others.

Yes grealish is a better fit.

In form or not sterling doesn't fit in this side going forwards. Why? We traded a cutting edge out wide for more control and we are better in not giving away as many cheap counter attacks overall(a world class defender has helped too), but obviously we don't score as much. Unfortunately sterling doesn't have the skillset to adapt to meet the requirements of a role in this new approach and he's had a long time and many opportunities to try.

A striker may eventually be over relied upon, but given we win mostly without one and have looked more solid defensively since the chance in approach, it seems pep is absolutely correct and sterling is just unfortunate that he hasn't been able to adapt like everyone else.

But that's not really true is it? And it certainly doesn't mean it's right.

He bought Grealish when Bernardo was moving on, and then he didn't. He let Aguero go when he thought Kane was coming in.

Now he's got a team that has too many creators and not enough goalscorers and that's why we've failed to score in 1/3rd of our games this season.

We let Aguero go because we knew it was the end.

If Sterling wants to go I wish him all the best, he's been unplayable at times for City. His recent form hasn't been no where near is best, but that happens sometimes and maybe a new challenge is needed?

It would be easy for him to stay at City and take his wages, but the fact that he wants to leave to get more game time, shows his character.

I'd like to say that this negativity around him is pretty poor, but was always going to happen after the press/media's early witch hunt of the lad. I think it sowed an early seed in some fans heads, which has now bared fruit.

Regardless of which club his future at is at, he'll get my full respect for his many many superb displays whilst he wore the City shirt, his goals have been crucial at times and peak Raheem will be missed massively.

to be fair to him, he has been fighting for it. Just nothing coming off for him, he's never stopped running for the team when in or gone into on pitch sulk mode (looking at you CR7)

Well it’s the answer you’re going to get wherever you like it or not.
It doesn’t alter fuck all.
You’ve no proof that Grealish was bought because Bernardo was moving on. You can guess that was the case and with good reason due to the chatter regarding Bernardo over the summer but as far as I’m aware Pep has never come out and said that’s why we bought Grealish.

Reports in the Catalan paper, this morning. Barcelona cant afford a loan fee or 50% of the wages.

What are busy reported wages?

£250k? £300k? Even if he extends without any increment in wages, he is still not worth it at current levels of output. Maybe his new deal will be with reduced basic wages

Rubbish.
It is no wonder pros and those in the game think football fans are idiots. Sterling despite being from a one parent family, managed despite monumental hurdles ,to overcome them to play as a regular for two iconic English clubs. 300 games and 100 goals for City. His character has never been in doubt, the resilience needed to stay at the top of the game is totally underestimated by the clueless.
Your opinion re Sterling you are welcome to, but questioning his character is a smear on our club aswell as the lad himself.
Hang your head.
