Liverpool terror attack

Let's try to keep the Islamophobia out of the thread, please. Rational discussion is fine, anti-Islamic generalisations are not.
I do wish people would stop using the term "islamophobia".
It is a made up word designed to suggest that people who are opposed to Islam are irrational or suffering from a mental sickness which indeed a phobia is.
I am opposed to all theistic religion on the grounds that it is a blot on humanity and does significant harm. I am not, however, phobic. My objections are seated in logic and evidence not on irrational fear.

If it's true that the taxi driver had prevented the bomber from getting into the hospital he deserves a knighthood.

I look forward to seeing the factual report on the issue. A lot will have to kept quiet so a conviction can be sought for the alleged co- conspirators.

It would be best if people backed off social media/conspiracy theories until all the evidence is released to the public.

Can a Taxi driver lock the rear doors independently from the front doors? Suspect the glass screen between him and the rear helped save his live. Hope he is recovering well but fear for his hearing.
Child locks?

No it isn’t just fear it is also includes prejudice. All words are "made up".

Looks like the intention was to bomb people at the Remembrance parades, the routes were blocked, so a woman's hospital was chosen. The speed of the car suggests the driver saw this ****'s jacket lit up, so dived out, locking him inside.
No word yet of who or why, and if it's anything to do with any of the peaceful world religions or not.

The bomb went off with the driver still inside the vehicle. I’m holding off before hailing the driver as a hero. I’m sure they’ll be a go fund me set up for him though very soon…

Indeed. And while they will have been briefed by police in order to update partners and local government, the mayor and other local political figures also need to shut the fuck up while people are still in custody pre-charge

Liverpool mayor Joanne Anderson also praised his actions.

"The taxi driver, in his heroic efforts, has managed to divert what could have been an absolutely awful disaster at the hospital," she said.

"Our thanks go to him and our emergency services, and authorities have worked through the night to divert anything further, and we've all been on standby and in constant contact to provide any support that's needed."

She added: "Well, we knew that the taxi driver had stood out and locked the doors, we knew that early on."

Had the bomb gone off properly, there'd probably have been nothing left of the car or the driver. I'd say it didn't explode fully, maybe just the detonator went off or the material caught fire rather than exploding. The driver clearly realised something had happened and had the presence of mind to get out sharpish.

Good job it wasn't Ole at the wheel!

That's not what I'm hearing, he was outside, just in time.
I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right, just that the reports,
including the mayor's, confirm this.

Watch the video mate. It’s pretty clear he’s still inside when it detonates.
The one I've seen doesn't make it clear, although I'm not saying you're wrong. This part of what is a dreadful atrocity foiled, isn't that important though, the best result is the driver now Ok and out of hospital, and the bomber now resembles a dropped pie.
