Ref Watch

Mate, take another look. Raked, studs up down his achilles.

Red all day long.
I think a lot of people would have missed it first time as the replays weren't great, but I rewound it a few times and you could make out what happened. The replay after the match wasn't shown during the game, but it's fucking conclusive - he should have walked.

I'd like to see these cynical and deliberate fouls like the one on Gabby treated as a red card offence. Some poor bastard will get seriously hurt one day by these idiots maliciously taking out a player.

How many times did the ref rewind it? Or did he just miss it like a lot of people?

Best referee we have had this season.

Have we had this referee before? Or was it because he had to stand in in the last minute he didn’t get the memo from bent Riley?

At the time of the interview, I don't think he had seen the replay which shows cart horse's studs raking Gabby's Achilles and ankle.
Thing is the ref can’t re see it. Only if told to, so I can forgive him that, I’d take the referees performance every week regardless of that challenge, he also didn’t once get in the way of our passing movements unlike what seems to happen more frequently most games. 9 out of 10 from me.

I think the ref was great and I'm not blaming him for not seeing it during 'real time.' And I agree, VAR should have asked the ref to review it, but they didn't. My issue is with people saying that it was just a 'trip', when it patently wasn't. It was a very bad tackle that could have done some real damage.

Agree totally I was just pointing out the referees performance

Yeah I thought so too, strange he was a late replacement, obviously hadn't had the PGMOL briefing pre game, and refereed it normally (though I doubt Watford fans saw it that way).
No, there was a lot of crowd noise at some of his decisions, he will be in the non-league next week (for being fair to City), he could have given them a penalty but that would have been very soft IMO and he could have shown them a red card if he had seen the studs hitting the achiles I am sure he would have done.

But all in all, he kept the game flowing as much as possible and also didn't seem to be in our passing lanes, now that is another thing you wonder about with the usual refs.
