F1 Season 2021

For a BBC show that usually bends double to give balance and with two or the three having gone for Max all season as their driver to win, yesterdays episode is bang on the money discussions Max and his way of driving “fail to break into a corner in an attempt to either come out of the corner first or crash into the other driver” etc

It’s good that not all former drivers have their head as far up Max’s arse as Brundle.

Sky's agenda was so clear on Sunday I wouldn't take any of their commentators views as their own. Hill's woeful attempt at shifting his position with any legitimacy just summed up the mental gymnastics needed to stick to the script.

The Hill shift was yet another clear example of someone being told to tow an editorial line.

Proper fed up of the press being biased towards Hamilton, don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic driver, a generational talent, and a great advocate for the rights of LGBTQ and PoC but my god, he's such a whinging get.

I really like Max, and I think he's getting in his head like Rosberg did a couple of years back. He does like being up against it, despite all his skills as a driver.

Purely my opinion mind. My favorite driver is retiring this season, so.

Im afraid it’s not an opinion or take on the situation I share.

I think Hamilton is in Max’s head.

Hamilton hasn’t put a foot wrong in half a dozen races and Max hasn’t managed a clean move or defence against Lewis in that time. Ffs Max was reprimanded 4 times in the last race alone. He also bottled his final flying lap in Q3. If anyone is suffering mentally, it’s Max.

As for the Rosberg season, he knew the only reason he won that year was Lewis’s mechanical failures and that’s the main reason he didn’t even want to stay around and defend his title. He knew he’d never get that lucky again and bowed out.

As for whinging, that is RB’s entire M.O. and didn’t you hear Max moaning about Hamilton not being ten car lengths within him on one of the restarts? That moan wasn’t even correct as it was a “formation
Lap” and no such rule exists for a standing restart.

Laughably and in their desperation to support Max, even the sky comms team didn’t know the rule as they agreed with him lol.

Fair enough, I'm not saying I'm right, or anything, and to be fair, RB do moan a lot, but you have to admit Horner and Wolff are as bad as each other.

Max doesn't seem particularly bothered about the situation to me, maybe earlier on, and he's driving his best to defend his place against a car that's much faster on straights, to me, he's racing, and whilst you might not agree with that, I just think he's more interesting to watch.

But it's all opinions, to be fair. I've got nothing bad to say about how Hamilton races, I think he's one of the best ever, honestly.

Sky are all over Hamilton winning, they almost will him on, so I feel like we're watching different races abit here! - British press are the same, and I get it mind. He's from here, so.

Forgot to add, Max, to be fair, was pretty bad this weekend, in terms of his brake testing and that.

Sky is like watching RBR TV not sure what you’re watching.

Failing to break so that you miss the apex, cut the corner and push the other driver off the road isn’t racing. Hence the 4 reprimands. Deciding it’s your corner or you both crash out, isn’t racing. He is showing all the wheel to wheel racing ability of a spoilt millionaire’s kid, which he indeed is.

There is the situation where Hamilton has to pass Verstappen which will be dangerous for his chances. However if Hamilton gets pole do we see Verstappen not break if he’s behind him and torpedo him off the track. It’s going to be interesting.

Again, respectfully disagree.

Max and his behaviours have been enabled this season by a compliant media and his own team, along with the FIA and stewards.

Thankfully it seems that enabling is now at an end.

The one thing I will say in Damon Hill's defence is that he changed his mind after being lied to by Marko, Horner and Verstappen face to face for the best part of an hour.

The all came out and said in no uncertain terms there was no way Max did anything other than slow down, he didn't brake check him and the telemetry proves it, and not only that, it was an outrageous lie and accusation from Mercedes.

Bear in mind Hill has known these guys for 30-40 years. They are friends.

And this ties into...
you have to admit Horner and Wolff are as bad as each other.

This is a often pushed narrative but it's really not true at all. Horner has shown he will literally stand in front of a camera and blatantly lie, knowing he'll be shown to be lying by a stewards enquiry, and not only that, he does so with this maddening air of "I'm offended you'd even ask that question".

Wolf is not a saint, but he's got enough about him that he'll just decline to answer something rather than lie about it, or he'll bat it away. To my recollection he's never stood up post-race and said black is white, up is down.

It's been enabled to get to this point with a perfectly constructed level pegging showdown, in a year where if the officiating had been honest Lewis would already be champion. Where have we heard that before, manipulation to get a level pegging title fight on the final day.

I must be the only Hamilton supporter not to think Sky have a RedBull bias? I've always found their coverage to be balanced on the whole. Plus being a British channel they're usually narratively on Hamilton's side more often than not regardless of his opposition (as well as Russell's).

Channel 4 are the RedBull channel for me.

I have to say, irrespective of whether you are correct or not, I find it increasingly depressing that this theme of manipulation of results is becoming evident everywhere I look on these forums.

Here's hoping for a good race at the weekend.

You are not alone. I haven't felt that Sky really favour anyone. Different people will see different things. Could it be confirmation bias?

I dont believe Sky would be biased towards Verstappen after all Sky always backs English teams in the champions league.......oh wait.....
