It pissed me off more than most matches we lose.

Something about seeing us play like we didn't give a shit at all, with the kids waiting on the bench, and then half a dozen senior players at the club losing their heads over a few non decisions and suddenly decide they cared after 75 mins, and then fail anyway.

The weekend cant come soon enough, we need to put that behind us ASAP.

I think Pep is going to absolutely murder some of them in the dressing room. Walker, Gundo, Stones, Fern, Mahrez and Grealish really let themselves down.

It doesn't have to be a bad thing if it puts a rocket up them for the rest of December.

I went into the game with pretty low expectations tbh so wasn’t overly disappointed.
I don’t overthink games like that but that’s me, I’m sure Pep won’t be happy along with the several posters on here venting but after tonight o won’t give it a seconds thought.

This game wouldn't have been meaningless for Palmer and McAtee, that's the only frustrating thing about tonight.

Not only would it not have been meaningless, but thirty or even twenty five minutes might have helped to convince McAtee that he‘s got a future at this club.
I had no regrets whatsoever about Sancho going (whatever he becomes in the future). He was offered the best contract that’s ever been offered an academy player with no significant game time. If McAtee goes it will be genuinely regrettable. There are some things you can’t drill into a player. The little I’ve seen of him, he is the genuine deal. Raw, of course. But real class in his play.
We were losing anyway.

So let me get this straight...

City needed to field a full strength team and play well and win tonight in order to maintain rhythm and momentum. But Pep should have also played a weaker team full of B-team players and youngsters, treated the game like a free-hit training exercise, and kept our key players fresh for the weekend.

Not sure Pep can really win in that scenario.

This game wouldn't have been meaningless for Palmer and McAtee, that's the only frustrating thing about tonight.

The way I see it that's on the senior players.

When Pep does these lineups, which he's done often, he's saying to the senior guys "OK go win this game, control it, take the sting out so the kids can get on and you can have 30-40 minutes off".

And it doesn't need to be 4-0, but the game needs to be controlled, it need to be the kind of game where if a kid has an absolute shocker, we're in control enough that it's OK.

Tonight, the senior players didn't do their bit, and when we got to 50/60 minutes on, the game wasn't suitable for kids to come in. Leipzig were being really aggressive, fouling, pressing incredibly high, getting niggly.

Not only would it not have been meaningless, but thirty or even twenty five minutes might have helped to convince McAtee that he‘s got a future at this club.

Don't think this is an issue anymore, just numbers being finalised.
