Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

Unfortunately fella that doesn’t mean that much at this time, they are having a shocker because they are basically unfit to govern. They need to keep up the horror show and I think Johnson would easily achieve that. Truss would too imho.

This Liz Truss?

Ding dong

which is why he is such a fucking prick for this constant denial - thats Stratton to his left ( our right ) yeah? She baled before this came out coz she knew what was coming - he is going to be desperate to dissolved Parliament on Tuesday - he can't do a final PMQ's on Wednesday

They know they're going to get caught out by the denials but that's OK. Johnson's always been about saying anything to get through the day.

They let a little bit out at a time, concede a bit, spread it out and let it drag out to the point people get bored.

I've already heard people who last week were outraged, think it's ridiculous for a party to dominate the news for 2 weeks.

We've already moved on from the fact members of the press pack were alleged to be there and the politcal editors refused to answer if they were there or knew about it and kept it secret.

I agree - news reports about WW2 for 6 years were a bit of a drag - after 2 weeks of the phoney war the news should really have moved on to more important stuff - like Princess Elizabeth learning to drive and asking just who is Vera Lynn's boyfriend?

I think there is an element of there being so much sleaze and corruption that new headlines cause a collective shaking of heads / shrug of the shoulders from the public. Expectations of the pm as a leader and person are so low that he's hardly damaged by revelations that might bring down any other govt.

More chance of a labour govt if Boris is still there come the next ge. Sadly it would probably only take the Tories installing a slightly less shambolic leader to turn the polls around and take kiers lead away.

I'm not sure. Part of the reason he's stuck around as long as he has is the complete lack of alternatives.

Truss is just as much of a mess, Priti Patel is genuinely disliked by a lot of people. Sunak is the obvious candidate, but I don't think we've ever had a literal billionaire in charge, I'm not sure how well he'd hold up to the scrutiny.

I can't see him lasting 2 and a half years though.

I suppose I'm naively hoping they fuck it up so badly they have to call a snap election (very unlikely I know).

Also the giant elephant in the room with Sunak (and Patel) is that the Tories have been actively seeking the anti-immigrant, bigot vote for a pretty long time and are heavily reliant on it. Despite how much of a giant tory Sunak is, or an evil cow Patel is, they will lose a lot of votes on race alone

I'm guessing as soon as the worst of covid / brexit' is past and Boris has absorbed the damage they'll replace him.feels like the 90's to me- the public are pretty sick of Tory rule but need something fresher on offer from labour (like Blair/new labour were then) to swing the ge.
