I think that if they’d communicated it better. Ie We have a new variant that looks like a super-spreader and we don‘t yet know the virulence of it yet, so we are asking people to be cautious and only go out where necessary whilst we gather the relevant information. This gives us the best chance of having the most normal Christmas we can possibly have.

I think people would have been on board with more.

I don’t know about you but I think by now everyone has either decided

True, but if we’d have had grown ups in charge who spoke to us as grown ups, people would have been more inclined to listen, limiting the last two categories.

From the news this evening they are hoping to do about half a million boosters a day. Which should help. Though those scary GM numbers today suggest Omicron is here and spreading like fury. I am expecting to see Manchester top 1000 cases next week. They are already up near their daily record today. As are Trafford. So the more jabs and the faster we do them the better. This variant is not messing around waiting for us.

Scientists don’t make predictions based on their own knowledge and opinion; they forecast what might happen going off past data. They can only use past data and the results can only come from that data. Their own expertise doesn’t come into it.

If the forecast doesn’t fit with the real world occurrences, it doesn’t mean the scientists were wrong, it simply shows that what they’re investigating is variable.

With Covid, scientists had to use other viruses as their dataset because there’s no past data for Covid in humans. But they can’t just tell us what they think is going to happen, they have to use data, and action can only be taken from data.

I have been in the first category since it started but am pretty much in the 2nd group now. I suspect that''s the case with most people.
