Coronavirus (2021) thread

Just another quick comment on todays remarkable numbers. Most of the other regions outside the south fell big today too.

Aside from London up 1800, South East was up 1800, South West up 1200 and East up 1000.

So all and more of the England rise was in the southern regions and the rest of England is actually well down on last week. West Midlands is actually down below 2000. Very low here. And is less than half what it was on Saturday.

Not sure if this supports a data issue in the midlands and north regions over past two days or is a real difference as the southern regions have been well ahead for a week or two now - at least since Omicron was even a word let alone a factor we knew about.

But the gulf today is enough to be suspicious. Though Gov UK make no reference to it as they usually do when one is identified.

By the way the Monday deaths in England hospitals is in single figures for the first time in months.

Just 8 with NIL in the North West It was 16 with 1 NW last week.

Nobody under 60 died.

Wonderdul and welcome news in a sea of what often seems continuous misery.

England hospital numbers less cheery but unsurprising.

Will post the full weekemd numbers across the regions on the other thread

BUT these do matter more than ever now of course so I needed to post the key facts here.

All three days admssions are up week to week.

London you will not be surprised to hear by the most - a whopping 145 rise above last week over the weekend. North West up most of the northern regions but only by 27 - and most of those on Saturday (admissions are 48 hours behind).

In patients are up on every day from Friday to today - first time in some weeks that has happened.

From 6088 Friday to 6395 today - a rise of 307 over the weekend.

It was a rise of just 141 last week. And falls across the weekend for several weeks before that.

No question numbers are rising but not as yet dramatically.

Given those case numbers posted above or the admission numbers you will not be surprised to hear that London by far created the bulk of the patient rise. Up from 1185 to 1360 over the past 48 hours. 107 of them alone just today.

Out of the 11,791 cases today there. So about 10% admitted v cases.

London now by far the most patients.

Midlands the only other above 1000 has stayed flat across the weekend on 1165

Yorkshire up 16 to 906 and North West up 23 to 852 today.

Again matching the far lower cases.

South East with big cases like London too is now ahead of North West patients up over the weekend by 30 to 889.

South West and East up too over the weekend.

But modest numbers really outside of London.

That IS it for the data I promise but I felt numbers really matter to inform this thread just at the moment.

That's a blow. Keep us updated as to how you are. I hope you are vaccinated.
I am. Gutted as had so much planned over December as it’s the first time I’ve ever had the whole month off, to see the family and watch City etc.

I am fully vaxxed and thank fuck too as my chest and throat are in a bad way, imagine if I wasn’t !

The data thread is for the data though, we are all capable of switching to a different thread if we choose.

Personally I don’t want to see this every day you think it’s “remarkable” as that is likely to be most days.

OK no data in here ever again.

Got it.

I assume that means nobody posting any in here like several have today?

Or is it just me?

Happy to oblige if everyone does too.

I hope you are ok for the last week of December. My symptoms lasted for 5 days but I felt really bad in that time. I was part of two households that mixed and got infected at the same time. All double-vaxed apart from children. We all had it for 5 days. It was worrying at the time because I thought if this worsens, I am off to hospital but it never did and when I started to get better I picked up really quick.

Thanks mate and glad to hear you all recovered. It’s a little weird/worrying coughing your guts up and knowing that so many thousands have sadly died from the same thing you’ve got. As I say, the jabs should see me through otherwise I’d have been in trouble.
