The "which famous person died today" thread

No way! Was just talking yesterday with a bloke at work about the monkees as he was saying Davy Jones was from Manchedter when I said I was from there :(
Friend of mine saw him and Dolenz in Philadelphia a few weeks back
Why was Dolenz carrying Davy Jones’ dead body around with him?

Did his mum invent Tippex or is thar some sort of urban myth?
True story... He inherited a fortune. She was a typist in a typing pool and invented in her kitchen on an evening...
He had a great solo career himself beyond the Monkees.
Single Rio was a minor hit and one of my all time favourite singles.
Really sad loss. A really humble guy apparently. Dolenz had just released an album of Nesmith's own songs (but mainly his country stuff, which I am not keen on)
RIP

Still one of THE best guitar riffs of all time

Pity Mike didn't play it...
From Wiki.
The song was written in the key of G, aligned to the electric guitar, and there were three guitarists on the recording: Erwin played chords, McGee assisted with lead guitar flourishes and the lead guitar part was written on the spot and played by session musician Louie Shelton on a Fender Telecaster and Fender Super ....The only Monkee to appear on this song was Micky Dolenz, who sang lead

She invented the first correction fluid in 1956 while working as a typist. She turned her whiteout, Liquid Paper, into an office staple, selling the company to Gillette in 1979 for $47.5 million plus royalties
