The "which famous person died today" thread

Actress Kathryn Kates, who appeared on shows including "Orange Is the New Black," "Seinfeld" and "The Good Fight," is dead at 73. "After a long, hard-fought battle with lung cancer, Kathryn passed away peacefully.

A personal hero, and a Godlike figure in Warrington, Leigh and GB RL circles.

To those of a certain vintage, "Superstars", too

RIP, Dessie

Dessie was only 63. Very sad! His funeral has already taken place, back in his birthplace of Jamaica. Like manimanc says I don’t even remember hearing about his death in the news when it happened or anything.

His 100m sprint time on the 1983 Superstars (10.48 or something?) would have got him into the 1984 Olympics for GB.

Proper rugby league legend!

The Gary Brooker story didn't even make Guardian or BBC front page.
Given that Whiter Shade of Pale is one of the most famous British singles ever that's quite disrespectful.
I completely agree.Weird that a major musical talent and front man of a band that recorded one of THE most iconic tunes of all time as well as several other terrific hits does not make the bbcs Web site front page, let alone a mention on the TV ! You've got to shake your head at the people working at the bbc at times !
