Anyone wanting to see it today's Zoe Graph of ongoing cases is on the Data Thread.

The straight line in the past week is near vertical just like it was in South Africa. It has gone up over 64,000 today to the highest ever ongoing cases total of 1,549,676. Over 2% of the UK population has it now. Matches the ONS data well. And over 151,000 predicted new cases today.

In contradiction to the case numbers. Personally I've no idea what's going on, but this thing is clearly everywhere now.

Suggestion of the right thing to do ahead of Christmas:

1. Get some LFTs in
2. If you're meeting up with family or friends, especially anyone vulnerable, do an LFT immediately beforehand, whatever your vax status.

Oh, and the same before leaving home for the Leicester match.

Stay safe blues.

Just been past the Rammy covid test centre, as usual on my dog walk, and I can categorically say that it’s the longest queue I've seen there since it was built.

This. This last two weeks or so I’ve been telling all the family to test regularly and report the result to the NHS. Had some members of the family who have never done one and they were happy to start doing so. Test before going to meet people outside the household or e.g. the game, and test again 2 or 3 days after. Going to be needed for a while I fear.

Sadly though we have two who are not only anti-vaxxers but won’t test either. I’m lost for words but they’ve been asked to test and we hope they see sense.

PS Most of the testing kits I’m picking up or sent from the NHS are nasal tests only, so easier to use than the back of the throat ones.

Alot of people won't be getting tested either so they don't fuck up their christmas plans. See no evil cough no evil.

Don't think thats true, everyone I know that are visiting or having visiting reletives are testing. We are because we don't want to spread it to our relatives.

According to NHS England, there has been a 42% increase in the number of patients being treated primarily for COVID-19 in London since the start of December.

The number of COVID patients primarily treated for other conditions has more than doubled in the same period.

ONS Weekly report...
The Zoe number for ongoing cases matches very well the ONS numbers. EVen though they are from last week.

Oh - and another bit of news the media may or may not notice:

Yesterday's record of 106,122 is actually NOT what the total was.

Scotland today discovered a whopping 3533 cases went missing yesterday (as they suspected as the number was so low and did say then that they were investigating). They have NOT added it on today - just to the collective total. As they had 6215 cases already today without the missing numbers!

But as they should have been added yesterday the true number then was 109.655

I assume Gov UK will correct and point this out to the press but just in case not.

Waiting on PCR results now (after positive LFT). Mum's waiting on hers too (after positive LFT).

My auntie has tested positive today too (PCR), different household (was due to go there for New Years Eve).

All of us triple jabbed, I'm least affected by it, they have bad flu-like symptoms. More affected by the tonsilitis I have (probably caused by the virus) which the antibiotics have just kicked in for.

Think the infection figures are going to be massive over the next week.

My wife got tested yesterday morning at the Etihad. Results took 20 hours to come through.

Tested positive yesterday on an LFT and again this morning.

I went for a PCR at Etihad yesterday around 11.40 but yet to hear back. Agonising having to wait (although the writing is on the wall).

Right before Christmas too. Wounded.
