Do you really need it explained to you?

A guy earning what 30k a year defending a footballer turning down a 3 year 30m contract because he might make another 10m elsewhere.

Is that easier for you to understand, I wasn't slagging you off, I wasn't slagging Chelsea off, just entitled overpaid footballers.

ie I hate football sometimes.

I wasn't defending or promoting anything. I was discussing the reality of Rudiger's wages compared to the rest of the Chelsea squad. He has no obligation to accept 190k when he likely has 250k on the table elsewhere.

Wouldn't win them the CL

Probably, but with a fair wind and a decent draw, they would get closer than they are right now?

They can also probably reconcile going without for a couple of years while they flesh out the departures of people like Modric and Benzema in the seasons to come.

Rudiger - Varane
Mbappe - Bale/Ronaldo
Pogba - Modric/Kroos
Alaba - already taken on a free.

Both. Rudiger is obviously living and working in an alternate reality but the concept is the same. If you're a top 3 performer in your team but you're outside the top 10 earners in your team, when it's time to renegotiate contracts, that disparity will be get emphasised.
With regards to myself earning a very good salary, it would have been all about being safe as I had a family to support and a mortgage to pay

Rudiger's contract negotiations are totally different
He's already a millionaire many times over

A couple of years and Pogba and Rudiger will be done.

Okay, so maybe comparing it to a normal working man's situation is futile, but you do get what I'm saying.

He's on 100k a week. He has 2 offers on the table, 190k a week to stay or around 250k a week to move to Madrid. The choice is a pretty easy one.

If such a key player is unsettled then that's going to be very damaging for your team.

So far it hasn't impacted his performances. Players in contract disputes is very common and hardly the cause for unrest in the squad. Unless of course the player in question starts kicking up a stink, which there has been no sign of so far.

As I've said, he's already a millionaire many, many times over and that is only going to increase in the next three years no matter what. We're talking six million to a man who will probably be worth well over 50m (probably closer to 100)
It's now down to his career ambition, his family and their happiness
In his situation the money shouldn't come into it. If it does, there's something seriously wrong and it's pure greed and vanity

Agreed. It doesn't matter how much you earn, it's all about market value. If someone else is offering more to do the same job then you will question if your current employers are paying you what they should be, relative to the market.

In all honesty, I've been there
I had a job that paid extremely well and I was performing as well, if not better, than a couple of colleagues that were earning more
Instead of focusing on what I didn't have I concentrated on what I did have. I wasn't going to let it chew me up as I knew how fortunate I was compared to someone earning an average salary
But my circumstances were different to Rudiger's
I knew it'd be very difficult to find another position that would pay me that amount, whereas in football there are clubs lining up to pay obscene salaries
Was that when you was on World of Sport.

Like I said defending (who mentioned promoting?) the player but no biggie I'll move on as it seems you didn't really understand the point at all.

We're talking about football ffs. We all know the wages are obscene. Whats the point in pointing that out? Discussing wages within the context of football, obscene as the numbers may be, isn't defending it.

If that’s the case, we, Arsenal and Newcastle have been very lucky, and you have been very unlucky.

I don't know the extent of the other 3 clubs injury/covid list, but yeah I'd say we have been very unlucky. Yesterday we played a team that hadnt played a game in 2 weeks. It was our 4th game in that period.

WTF You were discussing Rudiger going to RM for 60k a week more than what he is on at Chelsea, that is talking about wages, fucking seriously.

So you have seen your arse because I said a normal guy earning 30k a week is 'defending' a footballer's wage demands, wow.

I have said nothing different to @dickie davies and like I said I was not slagging you off in the slightest but yeah, you carry on.
