TV Series

Better than season1? as that was shite.

I think depends on what you took from the first series to see the gain in the second.

Oddly, for me, it treads water but the viewer sees a greater depth in the show, but you have to the nuanced shift as it lifts the whole show!

I said as much to a critic who tanked the show and a shitload of people upvoted me!!

Unexpected!

It was just too bloody confusing for me with the multiple timelines and not knowing which timeline i was watching half the time.

The show had a lot of catch up to get to the meat of the present day. It doesn't really achieve any great strides, but to cement the mythology.

I think greater storylines are yet to come.

I tried to watch The Nevers last night, Joss Whedon's new show. Wow that was awful, couldn't even finish the 1st episode.

And I class myself as a bit of a Whedon fan boy ( his output, not the fact he's a bit of a dick ).

This series is probably not the sort that you mean but I have just discovered 'Winter Walks' on BBC4 apparently it was on BBC2 and is now being repeated on 4. Just looking at the views and remembering some of the same or similar walks when I was able is so calming. The contributors/walkers don't say a lot, just enough, and allow the viewer to just lose themselves in the peaceful scenery and non-intrusive words pop up now and again, with Grid references and one sentence or even just a couple of words about the high points. I record it and watch it when I get up in the morning whilst my tablets are taking effect before I can have my breakfast. :-)
As I say probably not the sort of series you mean but I love it. :-)
Perfect slow tv. We liked one area we saw on this programme so much we booked a seaside cottage there in March.

Anne;
The story of a mum who fought for justice for the 96 who died in the Hilsborough tragedy.
An amazing woman.
Try watching it without blue blinkers on.

I’ve only seen the first episode so far and it’s so unwatchably heartbreaking and painful, and Maxine Peake so good at what she does, I’m not sure I can go back for a second bite. There but for the grace of God.

Just started watching Long Way Up, Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor riding bikes from the tip of south America to Los Angeles. I watched the other "long ways" that they did and really enjoyed them as they spent a lot of time showing the countryside and meeting the locals. This time they are on electric bikes, the main focus is on "range anxiety" rather than the country or the people. After a while it gets boring listening to them go on about how much range they have and how far the next charging point is. That and mentioning the bikes manufacturer is boring. If they want to do something like that, use bikes that we can all buy, not prototypes which probably costs many thousands.
Needless to say I will not be watching the rest of the series.
Thanks for this.
I really enjoyed the first two series but this isn’t in mainstream anyway I believe .

That’s brilliant. When I was younger (in Victoria’s reign ;-) ) I had holidays in all the areas I’ve seen so far in the first series. Mountain walking, climbing and just leisurely strolls were my perfect relaxation.
Enjoy your holiday. :-)

Oh dear! The Tourist! Where do I start. I usually like Aussie programmes but this was a bit to far for me. Confused? You will be. If it takes a complete episode of LSD induced flashbacks to fill in the gaps it’s to much for me. Plenty of violence for those into that sort of thing.

Thats quite correct; she is brilliant in this.
It opened my eyes up to the facts about Hilsborough and how the families were treated. No football fan should go to a game of football and not return to their family because of the authorities letting them down so badly and systematically covering it up.

Thanks mate. Amble in Northumberland. It was Nick Grimshaw who did the walk.

I really loved and was absolutely inspired by the first series of The Long Way Round. I really want to drive around Europe, then across America and then across Japan. It really changed something inside of me. Fantastic show.

Then season 2 came out and that was really good too although ruined a bit by Ewans missus tagging along and it changing the dynamic somewhat. Still a good show thou.

The new one is just awful unfortunately....and it gets worse and worse. They don't even ride the bikes because its too dangerous for the last 2 episodes - they buy a bus and put the bikes on it!! Such a shame.

And yes, the constant whinging about their range ffs!
